Marco Rubio said that both Russia and Ukraine will have to make “concessions” in order to reach the peace deal promised by Donald Trump as he offered a full-throated defense of the president-elect’s vision for America’s role around the world – and his own hawkish record on foreign policy.
Rubio, Trump’s nominee for secretary of state, told the Senate foreign relations committee that the war in Ukraine had become a “stalemate” and “has to end”; that the US should show China that it would pay “too high” a price for invading Taiwan; and that European countries have to stop treating US support for Nato as an “excuse to … spend on domestic needs”.
Speaking on the war in Ukraine, which Trump had vowed to end within 24 hours of taking office, Rubio said that there was “no way Russia takes all of Ukraine” – but also that Ukraine would not be able to retake all its sovereign territory held by Russia.
In order to reach a peace deal, Rubio continued, “there will have to be concessions made by the Russian Federation, but also by the Ukrainians and the United States.”
US sanctions on Russia may also enter the discussion, Rubio said, noting that they gave Washington “leverage” over Russia and that they would “have to be part of this conversation in terms of bringing about a … resolution”.

” Take it up with Trump if you don’t like it.”
I do not like zeepers spamming their little war fetish endlessly.
I learned to be anti Russian as a career Army officer during the cold war. I guess you did not.
Oh, a Cold War Junkie looking a fix. how quaint. hey the 80’s are over .
“Russia invaded Ukraine, now you want Ukraine to make concessions? What are you smoking?”
Realism, and the American people voted for it.
“Poland can have the rest.”
That’s a start. Should give Trans-Carpathia back to Hungary and Northern Bukovina back to Romania.
You are correct, I neglected to include Hungary and Romania.
That would only be Crimea. Luhansk and Donetsk are 60% Ukrainian while Kherson and Zaporizhzhia are 80% Ukrainian

Whatever, Vlad keeps his liberated territories. The Ukies should have never violated the Minsk Agreements, they are now back to square one ( 2014) minus landmass, and decimated.
Russia has not forgotten ( nor ever will) the Maidan where the Ukies burnt alive Russians at the Trade Center in Odessa…I think Vlad should also liberate Odessa, making Ukraine a land locked rump nation.
Liberated by subjugating the population and destroying their cities.
The Ukies should have never violated the Minsk Agreements, they are now back to square one ( 2014) minus landmass, and decimated.
Again the lie. Ukraine fulfilled its obligations by passing the law granting autonomy and was preparing to hold the required referendum. Russia violated the Minsk agreements by not withdrawing its forces, by not handing over the border to Ukrainian control, and by blocking the referendum. But none of this matters for Russian apologists as long as they can have their talking points.
Russia has not forgotten ( nor ever will) the Maidan where the Ukies burnt alive Russians at the Trade Center in Odessa
You mean when the pro-Russian militants attacked the pro-Ukrainian demonstration, fled to the Trade Center, and then were caught in the fire started when one of their members threw a petro bomb that hit the window and bounced back inside? That you would continue to characterize this event as a deliberate act of the Ukrainians of locking them in the building and then setting it on fire is beyond despicable. But you have your talking points and will use them.
Nothing is ever “over”
So you want censorship? How about we just don’t read topics we are not interested in? It’s not difficult. Try it.
Don’t forget that Putin’s regime is claiming large areas populated by millions of real people it has never bothered to “liberate”. Conservartives must not forget we are talking of “Peace” and “Liberation” in the historical Russian way. Meaning mass murder and genocidal depopulation while erasing entire cities. Any who oppose Moscow’s policy are killed. Anything that can’t be stolen is destroyed.
The historical illiteracy and moral bankruptcy of Moscow’s dupes and fellow travelers is hilarious to watch. I find it genuinely like trying to debate the Larouche tablers back on the college quad. No facts matter. Totally impossible. In fact I’m certain it is much the same bunch with a new cause and armchair retirement hobby.
