First time I ever saw pit bulls was in Florida in 1978. Nasty things that the white trash kept chained up outside to guard their drug stash, stolen goods, and property. Today in Memphis, it’s hard to find a dog that isn’t a pit bull or pit bull mix. When I walk my dog, I am equipped for encounters with viscious strays on the loose. My neighbor had to spend $3500 saving his dogs life after getting attacked. The dog was never the same.
Some neighborhoods in Florida have a couple of them behind every chain-link fence. You couldn’t leave your house unoccupied, otherwise.
Same here look at the local pound and they were all “terrier” mix. Meaning put bull (terrier) mixes.
