This nothing new or sinister.
It’s former name was Thule Air Station. It’s been around since the 1960s.
I knew of it since my first assignment at NORAD Cheyenne Mountain. We had a direct comm line to their radar data.
The only thing I didn’t know at first was how to pronounce it.
I thought it was “Thool”. Everyone laughed at me and told me it was pronounced “Tuu—ly”. Oh well, didn’t make sense to me, but there ya go.
It was given a new name when it was transferred to the new Space Force under President Trump.

Known locally as the New Boston, NH tracking station. Originally a bombing practice range that opened in 1942.
Now, they track ICBMs coming over the North Pole.
Well, if you go to London don't try to pronounce the River Thames.
The Airman was informed that if he did not pick up the pace the consequences would be unpleasant. To which he responded, "Sir, I am an Airman second class, stationed in Greenland, standing in the snow, pumping sewage out of your plane, after midnight. Just what do you plan to do to make this MORE unpleasant?"
Yep, my Navy pilot dad’s squadron did some exercises there. I remember Dad telling us how tricky it could be flying back from there due to instruments going wacky as they came off of the north pole.
