Powerball winner Edwin Castro’s multimillion-dollar Malibu getaway has been destroyed in the horrific Palisades Fire, reducing the once-luxurious digs to a pile of ash. After the deadly fire tore through the area, all that remained of Castro’s $3.8 million home was concrete pillars and smoldering wood, photos obtained by The Post show. The destroyed Malibu abode was one of several Castro purchased after he won the historic $2.04 billion prize back in November 2022.

That’s a shame.
At least he has other homes he can escape to.
Lucky him. He can cash out the insurance, sell the lot and move to the United States.
Is it his getaway or is it his home? I don’t call my little 70’s suburban tract house a getaway.
Right next to the ocean and no water available.
Welcome to leftist-run California.
What are the odds that none of those Malibu beachfront homes are ever rebuilt? I can easily see the California Coastal Commission blocking construction.
Doubtful he had insurance in California or insurance climate.
However he obviously has other homes so that is a blessing.
First of all if I won 2 billion dollars in the lottery I wouldn’t be buying $4 million dollar houses...or $500,000 cars....or million dollar rings.
That’s what Adam Carolla says.
When these lefties have to deal with the beauracracy and red tape it’s gonna be a real reality check.
His first and BIGGEST mistake was not moving out of that God forsaken state ASAP.
Only kidding! :-)
IIRC lottery winners living in Kalifornia don’t have to pay state taxes on their winning.
If I won $2B? Lets say you keep $1B after taxes. That generates $40 Million in cash per year easy without touching the principal. Over $3M a month after taxes. The money to pay for that $500K car would be generated in less than a week. Every week. I might splurge.
California is one of the states that don’t allow you to remain anonymous.
The home he bought for his parents is in Alta Dena, epicenter of the Eaton Fire.
Yeah maybe not move out of CA yet but have the option by diversifying his real estate and investments, and planting roots elsewhere. The article says he bought his parents a home in Alta Dena which is where the other fire is.
Apparently, insane Cali codes are so outrageous that 300 firetruck sent to help with th fires have to “await inspection before they can be allowed to help fight the fires”
Liberalism is a mental disorder without narry a cure.
“lottery winners living in Kalifornia don’t have to pay state taxes on their winning”
A small price to pay to get outta THAT hellhole....IMO
