Proper tires are the most important thing for driving in snow. But those tires wear faster in dry conditions. There is no sense in using snow tires where it only snows once every 20 years. So snowfall in the South will always be a problem for driving. No one has proper tires for it.
Slow speed and stopping distance is your friend.
I don’t have snow tires and I’m neighbour’s with Nanook of the North.
Drive 8-10 miles below the speed limit and give yourselves about three times the stopping distance.
Somewhat used snow tires make great rain tires....
Good snow tires (Blizzaks) work very well in wet conditions too. How many times must you die for the tires to be worth it?
