89 year old Vietnam vet was called by "Publisher's Clearing House" (PCH) and was informed he had won $7.5M dollars. He was told that in order to collect, he would need to send $180,000 to cover taxes on the prize and he then sent this amount to the fake PCH. The real PCH stated that they never call winners in advance and they do not take taxes out of the prize money before issuing to the winner of the prize.
NEVER answer a call not in your contacts
I once received a similar call.....
I let them ramble on, then interrupted, saying, “Gotta run,
my husband’s home, he’s with the FBI’s telephone fraud unit.
Hung up so fast.....didnt even say goodbye.
I just ask the scammers to hold, then put my phone on speaker, play “Baby Shark” on loop, and leave the room.
For those who don’t have/work with young children “Baby Shark” is the most annoying children’s song ever written and it beats even “It’s a Small World” for getting stuck in your head.
Getting rid of our landline would solve it, but my wife refuses.
How are you able to call back a spoofed phone number?
A fool and his money are soon parted. Dumbass.....Or just greedy......Or both.
