This is a repost, but I think it's extremely relevant to the current situation.

I knew I read somewhere that the problem with wildfires in CA (and I’ll bet the ones in Canada, too) were because of mismanagement or “environmental” concerns.

Redirecting the Sierra runoff is a great first step.

Lightweight fires are necessary and ordinary. It’s all about management. California is about mismanagement.

There is a lot of irony here.

When I was growing up here in SoCal in the 60’s, citizens were allowed to drive on all the forest roads in Angeles Crest and all othe National Forests in the State. It was encouraged and Very LEGAL to scavenge for and take any and all Downed Branches for firewood use at home. They had Prison Crews as well as Regular crews that actually Cleaned up ther undergrowth and prevented these wildfires from becoming out of control. By the time I got my license in 1975 it was all SHUTDOWN.

After the Birth and Rise of the SIERRA CLUB in the early 70’s, it became ILLEGAL to do most anything in the National Forest. Especially CLEAN UP DOWNED TREES AND BRANCHES

I think the Sierra club is a front for billionaires, who want to own the state.

Every major CA fire is started by a homeless or illegal person.

Perhaps the Sierra Club is a front group for pyromaniacs who want to see CA burn....

:-)

Isn’t Mother Jones about as left as you can get? Why would they be going after California Libs? What am I missing?

Absolutely. And maybe because normal people are getting hurt by Leftist policy, to the point it cannot be ignored.

It’s all a bunch of do-gooders who want to keep it “natural” and don’t understand proper forest management. I read a story years ago where a man cleared the underbrush for 50 feet from his house, saving it from a wildfire that took his neighbors’ houses. The EPA fined him thousands.

The environmental groups did a split—but the rational ones do not hold any clout in leftist controlled institutions.

The old environmentalists were opposed to illegal immigration, supported reasonable forest and land management and wanted to make life better for all humans.

They were quickly booted out of the new environmental movement which hated white people and wanted them replaced with brown and black people at any cost.

That included burning whitey off of property with wild fires.

The useful idiots might be this way, but the billionaires who own the politicians aren’t.

Liberalism leads to oligarchism, always.

“Problem is the Sierra Club will NOT See Error in their thinking!”
Like all good liberals they are perfect and can’t possibly
be wrong!
I agree natural fires are normal and to be expected, so don’t build your home in the middle of such an area if you’re not allowed to protect your home. by cutting back brush, cleaning up, and making fire breaks.

Just consider all the CO2 being put into the atmosphere by these California fires not to mention the Canadian fires of the last two summers. I’m sure our climate apocalypse date has been moved up by several months

That would be the Nature Conservancy.

Not to mention all the pollutants like benzene, carbon monoxide, and such.

“The EPA fined him thousands”

Then it was probably worth it in the long run.

I don’t agree with the fine, but IF it saved his house it worked out best for him in the long run.
