You may talk about your Beauregard
Or sing of Bobby Lee,
But the gallant Hood of Texas
Played Hell in Tennessee
I’m trying to remember a battle that Hood won -
he lost:
Peachtree Creek
Ezra Church
Battle of Atlanta
Jonesville
Allatoona
Franklin
Nashville
He was no doubt brave guy, and after losing a leg at Chickamauga and wounded in the arm, he had to be strapped to his horse. But on top of being a hothead, he in love with a pretty Richmond lady and made some reckless decisions perhaps trying to prove his valor.
I imagine those artillery pieces were retrieved from the river at some point?
