Viral post calling Congress a 'nursing home' sparks intense debate over term limits as Trump prepares to take the White House

The United States Congress has been branded a 'nursing home' after Nancy Pelosi was pictured using her walking frame to get around the floor.

Heading into the 2025 session, the average age of Congress members is 79 days older than last session, at 58.9 years old.

Former House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, 84, suffered a fall last month in Europe and underwent hip replacement surgery.

She used a frame on Monday when she took part in a joint session of Congress to certify the results of the 2024 presidential election.

But the striking image of that moment has sparked questions about whether people in their 80s should still be working in such crucial roles.

'Congress really has become a nursing home,' one social media user wrote.

'Term limits. That's what America demands,' another added.

The criticism comes as 78-year-old Donald Trump prepares to return to the White House as the oldest person to be elected President.

NO term limits - until there are first term limits for the permanent deep-state Government officials and programs.

At least you get to vote for your Congressman

Who ever voted for Anthony Fauci? James Comey? Rachel Walensky?

These people built their bureaucratic fiefdoms for 40 years. They shut down the USA for year, and lead a coup against an elected President. So we should give them more power by making your only elected officials 6 year tourists in Washington?

That is an excellent point. These unelected beaurocrats are even more bothersome than congress. Term limit congress and congress will end up working for the agencies.

Congressional leadership resembles the Soviet politburo leadership of the 1980s. The only way they leave is they’re carried out feet first.

I noticed that while Pelosi can barely remain upright, she must not mind leaning back to get her color job done regularly!

This is completely bipartisan as well. The people should work together to get rid of these slimy, corrupt sponges. I think capping it at 70 is more than fair. That or limit to 2 terms for Senate and 6 for House. I’m more in favor of that myself. It’s not physical, and most people still have good use of their minds, so 70 can be a good compromise.

Yes, term limits for all offices.

Because election fraud is a real thing and term limits would be able to deal with it instead of people like Ted Kennedy, Schumer, Pelosi, Waters, etc getting lifetime appointments.

LOL

Unless Rs keep on keeping on winning, whoever they put in positoins of power will be removed from power ASA dems win again.

And vice versa...unless they have a specific term.

Trump has to make it MISERABLE to work with him for anyone who has a defined term that Trump can’t get rid of fast :)

Genslar and others are going.

I’m sure some others could be persuaded

It’s a nursing home full of corrupt criminals. They need cells and bars on the doors and windows.
