Pwaulyev?
Quebec needs to become a department of France.
Pwaulyev?
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Interesting... French name but he grew up in Saskatchewan.
Here you go from the man himself... all you have to do is to remember to put ‘Prime Minister’ in front of it (well, after the next election.... )
If you want to learn how to say French names properly, just speak those names with your mouth filled with marbles and you’ll be pretty close.
Paul Revere
Poi livery
Polyev
I think his family spoke French at home when he was growing up.
Canada would be a lot different if more Quebeckers moved west to the prairies. Instead, a lot of them moved south into New England for the factory jobs. In contrast to other immigrant groups, they didn’t make a lot of noise or stir up much notice. They were pretty modest people, actually.
Sounds like polly-ever.
However they pronounce it there, it will get mangled down here. Like how Brett Favre became Brett Farve.
FWIW; in French
poil = hair
and
lièvre = hare.
I’m guessing Polly ever.
Or Polly ever eh.
Interesting. Good post.
This is why I like Poilievre. This is how you handle Liberal journalists.
As in the Poil De Carrot book. I read when little.
Polly-ev, though a French name, is an Alberta native, born and bred there. Alberta is like our American west, politically and otherwise. Don’t let his French name fool you.
Trudeau may be gone, but given Canada’s parliamentary system,I fear the Liberals may stay in power.
That’s a great interview. Thanks for posting.
By the way, he has a very interesting history. He was born to a 16 year old single mom in Calgary in 1979. She put him up for adoption and the couple that adopted him were two teachers in Saskatchewan, Marlene and Donald Poilievre. They are from French-Canadian descent.
A couple of years after Pierre was born, his maternal mother got pregnant again and this child (Pierre’s half-brother) was also adopted by the Poilievre family. His maternal mom became a nurse and lives in North Carolina.
