It Was a Very Good Year -- At Least for Trump and Bibi
Washington Free Beacon ^ | January 4, 2025 | Mike Watson

Donald Trump: After the tumultuous 2016 and 2020 elections, the last thing the country needed was a contested election result. Donald Trump obliged, winning bigly in both the Electoral College and the popular vote. In the process, he reshaped American politics by attracting a slew of working-class voters to the GOP. The Republicans won by slim margins in the House and Senate, so much of his policy agenda will depend on executive orders and the bully pulpit.

Benjamin Netanyahu: This time last year, Bibi looked finished. The greatest security lapse in Israel's history had just occurred, and although Israel was pummeling Hamas, Iran's other proxies circled menacingly. But since then, Israel has fared well and Bibi has too. The IDF annihilated its most threatening neighbor, Hezbollah... Israeli politics are notoriously turbulent, and Tehran has not yet run out of expendable (in its view) Arabs to throw at Israel, but Israel's longest-serving prime minister has gotten back to the top of the polls and the center of Israeli politics.

Javier Milei: People who pattern themselves after comic-book figures rarely succeed in life. But the self-described "anarcho-capitalist" Argentine president, who designed his hairdo to remind people of the comic-book character Wolverine, is breaking all the rules. Decades of Peronist big-government follies turned Argentina into a stagnant, inflation-ridden backwater, and Milei is out to save the day.

Admittedly Off Topic:
The headline; It was a very good year provokes 1960s flashback for me.
Frank Sinatra sang a song of the title, a song I enjoyed hearing even as an unworldly 10 year old.
It sounded adventurous, wise and grateful.

Frank had yet another hit song that same year(1966).
Strangers In The Night (!!!)

Anyway...
Back to our program.

A bunch of crazy Islamists raping and murdering is a “security lapse”. Nobody would ever expect humans to behave like that. I was certainly surprised.

Trump didn’t just have a very good year.

He performed the near impossible.

I didn’t want him to run again...he was tainted and even though he was innocent, a majority of voters (if one believes the polls) said they wouldn’t vote for a convicted telon.

He says whatever he wants, types whatever he wants...NO ONE survives that in politicas.

He was losing his empire, possibly losing his freedom, I think his family was in danger from the left...he was down quite a bit against Desantis at one point.

He was shot.

And on and on.

A very good year.

I’m thinking a Miracle.

I’m 56 and was starting to think “oh well, my time has come and gone. It is what it is”

Trump made me feel like a fool after what he accomplished and at his age.

Have a good one!

He was fearless in the face of being railroaded into either the poor house or prison.

I remember when Strangers in the Night was on the radio, Rolling Stones had “Get Off of My Cloud” the year earlier, it’s the first Stones tune to make any impression on my young self — but I recall hearing both of them from the same AM station on the same day, so, what a great time to grow up. :^)

Yes it was a wonderful time, when most of the country listened to most the same music.

Fearless is the word.

I just can’t believe how it turned out..he added like 4 Billion to his empire with that social media deal, he utterly defeated that masses of asses against him.

He has given a lot of people encouragement to keep fighting.

If he did what he did then who am I to give up?

buona notte!!

I never see this type of piece run on any liberal democrat by the gynocentric orwellian media.
