I always figured it was better not to lie, we kept the holiday in perspective and focused on Jesus.
I always remember hearing a sermon which was something like listening to Paul Harvey, it might have even been Paul Harvey...
It went something like - first you told them about the tooth fairy, then you told them about the Easter bunny, then you told them about Santa Claus, and after a while the children all realized it was all just a big joke and a lie.
And then you told them about Jesus.
Or when she is your only daughter.
I’ve dressed up as Santa the last several years for my 2 adorable granddaughters every Christmas eve. The 8 year old figured it out last year but wasn’t quite sure.
I always say I’m going to the store and suddenly Santa shows up with presents! So this year, after Santa handed out presents and I’m back in regular clothes, the little 6 year old says to me “we know you’re Santa,” and the older girl says “No you’re not! No he’s not!” She knows they’ve got a good thing going and doesn’t want to mess it up. Ha!
Or...
Get ready for it...
The accepted FR rule is to donate after posting a vanity.
When my kids were about very young they asked me if Santa was real? I told them that I did not know, but I did know that Santa only gave gifts to kids that believe in him. My kids are in their 30s and they still believe in Santa.
LOL! Happy new year to you, dear FRiend!
