You are wrong in my case. Before I knew I had Covid I thought it might be a bacterial infection.
So I decided to take Doxy. The reason I have a script was to experiment on how it might help my MMP problem.
There is absolutely no doubt that it helped me. Why it helped me is unclear. I suspect that anti inflammatory effect
Doxycycline for the prevention of progression of COVID-19 to severe disease requiring intensive care unit (ICU) admission: A randomized, controlled, open-label, parallel group trial (DOXPREVENT.ICU)
I said most, not all.
Large controlled studies are different than a single event.
There is no way to know if Doxy helped you or not, because you don’t know what the course of the infection would have been without it. That is not to say that people with risk factors shouldn’t consider suppressive/supportive treatment. Most healthy people won’t need it.
We’ve progressed to a world where people believe a simple sinus infection warrents a trip to the emergency room on the first day of symptoms. And while I’m here, can you “check out” my 4 kids?
My 2 cents,
