Two people have been killed and more than 20 injured in a New Year’s Eve fireworks display tragedy in Hawaii.
Police said they had responded to a “fireworks-related” incident in the Salt Lake area of Honolulu this evening and there were “multiple casualties”.
The incident occurred on Keaka Drive, with officials telling locals to avoid the area. An unconfirmed video posted on social media appeared to show a fireworks display violently ‘exploding’ outside a private residence on the road.

Salt Lake is near a bunch of military bases, and is known as a retirement place for ex-military.
Not too many hooligans there.
Although, stuff was exploding all around my apartment until 0300 (3am). Sounded (and felt) like m80s (1/4 stick of dynamite).
Mortars are very popular snd loud......someone on the next street over from me was lightning them off and it sounded like they were in my backyard
Agree. Our previous home in an increasingly tourist dominated area of FL shook like a war zone every July 4th and Dec 31.
Tourists on vacation do crazy sh!t they wouldn’t consider doing at home.
