tough call, but it’s my kid, not yours or the states. My kid trumps everything. If you as a parent want your kid to read it, then get off the couch in the yard, go to the school itself and get it for your kid.
Things given to children by the public should be mild, milk and water LCD. In a word, inoffensive.
The reason is, they are not the parents.
As a parent I know what my kid can handle. And that differs from kid to kid even in the same family. Children that are easily influenced need more supervision then children who are more tough minded. Kids who are more easily shocked need stuff given to them in smaller doses. Maus is a book that some kids can handle and some can not.
In any case it is the job of the parent to decide.
