Ahh I’m so sad to see Olivia Hussey pass.

I recall being 7-8 when I saw her in Romeo and Juliette. I think she was the first woman to open my eyes to feminine beauty and the idea of sensual love.

"I recall being 7-8 when I saw her in Romeo and Juliette."

Yeah. She was one of the first to cause a big stir in me
when I took a class trip to theater to see that movie.
Damn, I thought she was cute!

Wow!

You must have exciting and warm memories of that long ago golf and tennis tournament, and great memories of meeting all those well-known celebrities.

Thank-you for posting, and Happy New Year!

Quite a list. One curiosity: I noticed, in reading about Ted Olsen, there was no mention of his wife Barbara Olsen, who perished on one of the hijacked planes on 9/11. Also tragic, 9/11 was his birthday…..

How did you see Romeo and Juliet when you were 7 or 8? She wasn’t even old enough to see herself in the theater, she, at 16 or 17, was too young to get in.

I think I saw the flick a few years after it came out.

Believe it or not while we only had 4 channels, that went off the air at midnight or maybe 1am, they would show entire rated R movies if after 9 or so.

I was born in ‘62 the movie was made in ‘68. I may be off by a year or so either way. But it seems like it was around ‘70-‘71.

I never went to see it, but my wife did at the time. She was born in ‘53, me in ‘54.
I did see it eventually, with her. Even though it was Shakespeare, I still consider it a chick flick. Olivia Hussey was a truly beautiful woman.

She had looks that were ..synergistic I guess. If you concentrated on each part of her face nothing was especially stand-out. Yet when it came together something clicked. Compare that to another that passed, Shannon Doghterty. For a few years I don’t think any woman on the planet could surpass her…and every single aspect of her face was flawless, together or separate.
