I remember gas lines being a Nixon thing.
Yes...in fact...I think he put a cap on gas prices. The economy was really scr***** up for a while.
There will be a gathering afterwards serving peanuts and Billy Beer.
Bus ‘em in. Yes, probably. The only one I want to see is Biden but the one attending will be one of the stand ins or he’ll be triple juiced up.
So three days rotting in Atlanta, and then two days at the Capitol. Five days ... OK.
Reagan only had 1.5 days in DC and 1.5 days at the Library, IIRC.
But who’s counting? It makes sense, of course, as Jimmuh was more dearly beloved than Reagan. 🙄
Allan Lichtman was on Newsmax (maybe Fox) a day or two ago, gushing over how Carter was the best President, and what a wonderful legacy he’ll leave.
Right! Having it at half-staff makes me feel as if we are constantly in a state of mourning, and that isn’t right. It conveys weakness and vulnerability, IMO.
The only reason Carter didn’t go down in history as the worst president ever is because Biden came along.
He’s a Dead Jim and is still dead.
The Democrats turned it into an election rally for Vice President Walter Mondale who was campaigning for President against Ronald Reagan.
Jessie Ventura was the governor at the time. He and his wife got up and walked out.
Be interesting to see if the Democrats morph Jimmy Carter's memorial service into a Trump/MAGA bashing extravaganza.
♫♫...Sharpen his feet and drive him into the ground...♬♬
Very late term Nixon, and very much during Ford’s admin. It just got stupid expensive during Carter’s time.
Recall passing through Plains in 1977 on a family lark, and learned first hand what a ‘trailer-park side show’ looks like in real life. Stunningly tasteless and tacky.
There should be gas lines at all gas stations on the day of his funeral . . .

Utterly brilliant! I think you win the thread, if not the Internet today.
It epitomizes the Democrat party, they want Americans to suffer and they hope to ruin everything and tell us this is the new normal and they can't do anything about it.
My brother left Citi Corp as a vp after 29 years and got a gig at the IRS. He says no one has any initiative beyond showing up.
“...what kind of eulogy they give him (Biden).”
Count on
1. Nauseating references to his decades of “public service.”
2. Amtrak stories
It’s all they’ve got.
Well said. Let’s be respectful. RIP POTUS39, the first one I ever remember.
Carter can enter the Hereafter with a smile as he is now recognized as only the 3rd worst President after Biden 2nd and Biden’s puppet master Obama 1st.
Indeed, amazing how Democrats have gone from bad to worse. Not a good sign.
>>I just don’t plan on spending any time watching
Agree completely. We can play the whole drama in our head now, so why bother watching it acted out. Every single speech will turn him into a mythical being with no relationship to the man who failed his office. We wouldn’t agree with almost any of the speeches about the man and we wouldn’t be shedding a tear for his passing.
But the passing of a president IS history and might be seen in shorts with the audio turned off. Just to guarantee that his period of history is truly past.
Yes, he got to vote against Trump but he ALSO got to see Trump win a 2nd term. Nah Nah!
I think Bidens admin picked J7 so Jimma Carter would have a bigger crowd due to the overflow from Trumps Inauguration on J6.
