Rep. Burchett thinks they will unite and elect Johnson but it looks like it hangs in the balance
But potatoes have eyes and he’ll be watching for naysayers.
Long before he gets mashed.🥔👀
I’m sorry but republicans are absolute idiots.
They barely have any majority and need to stick together. So they do the opposite.
I don’t like him either ,but Trump has endorsed him and we have to stick together!
This is about getting our country back on track and not about you Massie. If you hold everything up ,it will be you that is hated and believe me ,you will be hated as much as a Democrat.
I like that you are a fighter and we need more guts in this party, but now is not the time fight against Trump and the people that put him in office!
Perhaps he can find a GOP House member who can get more than 20 votes for Speaker.
Not that it matters to Massie (or maybe it’s his plan), but LIZ CHENEY only needs 3 REPUBLICAN VOTES to become the next Speaker of the House (and no, it doesn’t matter that she is not a House member).
giving the media/Dems talking points is not only not being a team player, Massie, it’s grandstanding. i believe party discipline should be visited on him, perhaps taking away a plum committee assignment. Rs must learn to act as a team so we can get border/taxcuts done done done. this is how party leaders would get members in line in the past and perhaps should be used again. no one is going to get exactly what they want, but better to accept the “good” and forget getting the “perfect,” as Ronald Reagan counseled. grumble and whine in private, Massie.Roy, too. stop with the sound bites.
Massie is such a pathetic narcissist. So tired of him. Can’t he just stay home and work on his DIY engineering projects? Why does he have to continue making things harder for Trump?
Massie needs to get onboard with Trump. No fighting so that Trump can start his agenda to fix this country!
It’s a team. Trump’s our coach and he wants Johnson. Thomas Massie’s a poor sport.
Might as well start the downfall after a win... It’s what they do.
Johnson sucks and needs to go.
On one hand a large segment of the Republican party base does not seem to support Mike Johnson, the alligator emojis coalition certainly does not. However, on the other hand, almost everyone supports President Trump sans the alligator emoji tribe.
President Trump is trying to avoid a painful Speaker battle again and officially endorsing Mike Johnson for another term as Speaker of the House via his Truth Social account.
“We are the Party of COMMON SENSE, a primary reason that we WON, in a landslide, the magnificent and historic Presidential Election of 2024. ALL SEVEN SWING STATES, 312 ELECTORAL COLLEGE VOTES, AND THE POPULAR VOTE BY MILLIONS OF VOTERS (Despite large scale voter fraud taking place in numerous states, including California, where votes are ridiculously still being counted, or under review!), ALL WON WITH EASE, CALM, & PROFESSIONALISM.
Republicans are being praised for having run a “legendary” campaign! Democrats are being excoriated for their effort, having wasted 2.5 Billion Dollars, much of it unaccounted for, with some being used to illegally buy endorsements ($11,000,000 to Beyoncé, who never even sang a song, $2,000,000 to Oprah for doing next to nothing, and even $500,000 to Reverend AL, a professional con man and instigator, who agreed to “interview” their “star spangled” candidates, Kamala and Joe).
We ran a flawless campaign, having spent FAR LESS, with lots of money left over. They ran a very expensive “sinking ship,” embracing DOJ & FBI WEAPONIZATION against their political opponent, ME. BUT IT DIDN’T WORK, IT WAS A DISASTER!!!
LETS NOT BLOW THIS GREAT OPPORTUNITY WHICH WE HAVE BEEN GIVEN. The American people need IMMEDIATE relief from all of the destructive policies of the last Administration. Speaker Mike Johnson is a good, hard working, religious man. He will do the right thing, and we will continue to WIN. Mike has my Complete & Total Endorsement. MAGA!!!” (read more)
It will be interesting to see what the House republicans do in the vote this Friday.
WASHINGTON DC – […] Trump’s endorsement comes as Johnson faced some resistance from Hill conservatives ahead of Friday’s vote, but the president-elect’s backing could stifle other opposition. The slim GOP majority in the House for Friday’s vote means that Johnson can only afford to lose two Republican votes. Democrats are expected to universally oppose Johnson, and Rep. Thomas Massie (R-Ky.) has already signaled his opposition.
Johnson has been quietly calling House Republicans in an effort to quell some of the brewing dissent, according to two Republicans familiar with the conversations who were granted anonymity to discuss them.
Johnson has committed to maintaining better communication with his GOP members, after the internal GOP chaos of the federal funding meltdown infuriated House Republicans before the holidays. Some members left the Capitol for the holidays openly saying that they felt deceived by the speaker and warned that his gavel was at risk Jan. 3.
Many Republicans see Trump’s endorsement as a critical boost for Johnson. (more)
What is Massie’s motive here?
Can Johnson be named as part of the Continuing Resolution with a expiration date of whenever in March the current CR expires? The pub majority is better then than it is now, correct?
“criticized Johnson as a “potato” who has blown the budget”
Whatever budget really exists, it was blown years ago. It is ridiculous to believe Johnson is the sole destroyer of a fake budget and to jeopardize Trump’s agenda along with any appearance of Republican’s unity. One thing we never heard from the democrats under Pelosi was calling her a potato. Screw Massie.
Guess he’s just a spud boy
Looking for a real tomato
Massie for Speaker, we need a modern Diogenes now!
Johnson IS a potato, but the word is unprofessional and childish. Maybe he could’ve said that Johnson’s mother wears combat boots.
I hate Johnson, but we have to get over this IMMEDIATE hump, and then deal with the Speaker issue later on. AFTER certification and inauguration.
Right now is not the time to get into a big fight over the Speakers chair. We need to get Trump sworn into office.
OK, but does he have the votes for a replacement to the right of the current Speaker?
