I stopped donating to Salvation Army when they went lib. Now I only donate to animal charities. The pups will appreciate any toy they’re given..
There are other ones around Christmas. There is Toys for tots and Secret Santa. Some churches other than the Salvation Army have it too.
Most people first think of the Salvation Army because of the Red Kettle and bell ringers plus the Angel Tree inside the store, but there are other organizations that help out too.
Giving to your local pet rescues and volunteering is a great idea; however, almost all national animal funds are very wasteful.
The bulk of my charity giving goes to animal shelters as well.
This Christmas, the Wife and I decided not to buy each other gifts, but give to our favorite charities.
I gave to the Gary Sinise Foundation for wounded warriors, and to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital. I contribute to the ASPCA occasionally during the year when I see their heart-tugging promos on TV.
My Wife gave all to a local animal rescue that has a great reputation and we've rescued 2 wonderful little doggies through the years. I believe they are called "Adopt a Pet".
This Christmas was the most rewarding we've experienced in some time.
We stopped Salvation Army when the top dog there sent the letter saying the white folk need to apologize for their whiteness. I used to ring bells, too.
All of that stopped.
We donate to animal rescue organizations as well. Charity Navigator website is good to determine if the money is well spent.
We also give to Samaritan’s Purse.
If you're donating puppy toys, then that's a great gesture.
If you're donating money, good luck with that........Animal charities are among the worst for neglecting to use the monies for what it's intended.

I don’t know what they’re like where you are, but around these parts they are the only organization getting drunks and addicts off the street, and feeding those who aren’t ready to come in.
I have great respect for them.
I will not donate to Salvation Army ever again. They have been my goto charity for decades, but I recently called them to pick up 3 serviceable recliners plus several other serviceable pieces of furniture, and they were so picky about the condition of the fabric I told them to leave.
I stopped donating to the Salvation Army after their International Social Justice Commission came out with their “Let’s Talk About Racism” pamphlet that admonished whites to feel guilty for being white.
I was at the Salvation Army the other day. I was shocked! Their prices were so high, I might as well purchase something New!
