History has been kind to Jimmy Carter in a way the present never was during his one term as US president.
His four years were dogged by economic "stagflation", which began during the term of his predecessor Richard Nixon, and America's stumbles on foreign policy.
The surprise 1980 landslide loss to Ronald Reagan was deemed a referendum on Carter's leadership.
Voters had daily reminders that their commander in chief was unable to free the dozens of Americans held captive in an embassy in the Iranian capital, Tehran.

Carter was a horrible president. He took out a staunch U.S. ally in Iran and brought in the evil regime which is still there. He abandoned Taiwan in favor pf communist China. He gave away the Panama Canal. He has attempted to undermine presidents from both parties since he left office.
Good riddance.
Carter was undid when he shivved the Shah.
If Carter had a second term, they’d never have been released. It was only that Iran was scared of Reagan that they were finally released.
Carter’s legacy lives on with what Iran is today.
I didn’t pay attention to politics back then, so I don’t remember much about him other than OPEC, hostages, botched rescue, peace treaty and the Playboy interview. Billy Beer, Billy whizzing on the Alamo.
Bring on the attack rabbit.

Didn’t he start the Department of (MIS)Education, too?
Is it Koppel or Dan Rather narrating?
Koppel
His presidency was undone well before then. People started to regret their vote for him within mere months of him assuming office.

And Reagan’s landslide victory over Carter was NOT a surprise at all.
and historians like Doris Kearns and Michael Bechloss are rabid leftwing activists.
Untrue.
Both the soviets and the Muslims conspired against him.
The people liked flush toilets and hated radical Islam.
The SAVAK killed about 3500 over the Shahs reign, but Khomenie killed 100,000 his first year alone and over a million before he died.
The Iranian people fled for their lives and those that remain outnumber the mullahs, they just don’t have the guns.
The mullahs even had help from Arafat and the PLO!
And they were right to be.
Earnest Will.
Nimble Archer.
Praying Mantis.
The 250 mile drive from El Paso to Albuquerque at 55 Mph really sucked.
The Ayatollah going to Iran was Carter’s doing.
