Alarming rise in number of newborn babies abandoned in Texas unsettles towns and sparks urgent concern for women's health care

The shocking rise in the number of newborn babies found abandoned in Texas has unnerved communities, raising urgent questions about women's reproductive health.

At least 18 babies have been abandoned in the Lone Star state this year, with the latest found just before Christmas at a Whataburger fast food chain in San Antonio, according to the Texas Department of Family and Protective Services.

A decade ago, the number of abandoned babies per year sat at just seven.

It is not clear whether or not there is a common link between the increasingly common tragedies. However, the alarming rate of abandonment is happening in a state with one of the country's most restrictive abortion bans.

In Texas, the law makes no exceptions for victims of rape or incest as it pertains to abortion, yet, the state yields one of the nation's highest birth rates.

Currently, the southwestern state sits next to last on the rankings for women's health and reproductive care, according to the Commonwealth Fund, which supports independent research on such issues.

In light of the disturbing increase of child abandonment, Leah Kipley, the assistant director of the National Safe Haven Alliance met with Texas legislators to advocate for a safe haven awareness campaign.

'We're all just reeling at the tragedies and hoping we can make some meaningful changes to prevent this,' Kipley told the Washington Post.

Twenty-five years ago, Texas marked the first state to pass a monumental safe haven law, the Baby Moses law, which allowed parents to relinquish their newborns at designated 'safe' locations such as a hospital, fire station, free standing emergency center, or emergency medical services station.

“...raising urgent questions about women’s reproductive health..”

Sounds more like it should be raising questions about today’s women’s mental aberrations. Even animals have a innate sense to rear and nurture their babies - too many of today’s “women” are not only subhuman - they’re sub-animal....

The Daily Mail...

I'm having an April baby! Meghan lets slip to well-wishers during a walkabout in Birkenhead she is now SIX months pregnant – but doesn't know if it's a boy or a girl as she wants it to be a surprise

Note to the rag: The UK has its own baby scandal to worry about, doesn't it. Maybe you should worry about that one. And your role in it.

Why don't they just say "abortions"?

I know this is probably a forbidden question but what is the demographic breakdown of the abandoned babies?

bet they’re from illegals. getting the state to take an abandoned baby, absent any parents at all, would ensure the kid becomes a US citizen

this comes when the 14th is about to be properly enforced... meaning the citizenship of the kid is the citizenship of the parents and has nothing to do with the dirt patch the kid was spawned on.

They’d like to pretend this is worse than abortion. I’d like to see them try to explain how that is

It’s no where in this article

These overgrown girls cannot figure out how to find a safe haven, a fire house, an ER?

No. They can figure out how to find a planned parenthood abortion mill and the funding for it.

Texas has had the safe haven law since 1999 … there’s no excuse to just abandon them wherever you want. Take them to a designated place!

You're absolutely right, trebb.

As witnessed by the clips taken of the speakers and participants attending pro-abortion rallies. These monsters can't kill enough babies and they can't kill them fast enough. They consider a newborn to be less than excrement.

I've never seen such deep loathing for anything, let alone an innocent little one. It's satanic.

You think otherwise of the DailyMail?

All firehouses will accept kids. Ditto on any medical facility. Decrying this is an attempt by the baby murderers (e.g., Planned Parenthood) to maintain their Fed gov’mt stream of $$$.

Factors

Texas population is growing rapidly.

Over 31 million this year. (from within and without the USA)
Over 30 million last year. (from within and without the USA)

Many of young female illegal immigrants who were raped on way to USA.

I’d say that Daily Mail in the UK is less informed than the citizens of the State of Texas.

Also consider the lowered fertility of male and female young people that had the Jab. Yes, I believe it is a significant factor.

So ... the Daily Mail thinks the solution to the tragedy of child abandonment is to kill the children.

You got that right.

The author is just upset the babies weren’t aborted. I am sure the babies prefer living over being shredded in the womb.
