Nobody was home at the time of the incident Friday night, and Doncic filed a police report..
Luka Doncic of the Dallas Mavericks is the latest professional athlete whose home has been burglarized.
The star guard's business manager told multiple media outlets Saturday there was a break-in at Doncic's home. Lara Beth Seager said nobody was home at the time of the incident Friday night, and Doncic filed a police report.
Jewelry valued at about $30,000 was stolen...
Doncic, 25, who is from Slovenia, is the sixth known pro athlete in the U.S. whose home was burglarized since October. Star NFL quarterbacks Patrick Mahomes of Kansas City and Joe Burrow of Cincinnati are among them, along with Mahomes' tight end, Travis Kelce.
The others were Milwaukee Bucks forward Bobby Portis and Minnesota Timberwolves guard Mike Conley Jr.
The NFL and NBA issued security alerts to their players after the break-ins, some of which have come when players were away with their teams for road games. The NFL's alert says homes of professional athletes across multiple sports have become “increasingly targeted for burglaries by organized and skilled groups.”
Burrow lamented a loss of privacy over having to acknowledge that he was the victim of a break-in.
I would suspect a specialist or a gang led by a specialist.
“I never said anything that would indicate that I approve of theft.”
Apologies again if I in any way implied you did so. Was not my intent.
“This is the sports fans fault. They financially support these absurb salaries for bouncing, throwing, hitting, or kicking a ball. If he was making 75k a year, he wouldn’t have enough money for all that stuff the robbers want to take.”
You’re in trouble now. All the freepers that worship the ball chasers are going to unload on you.
I don't get it either. The robbers know when they're going to be gone. How hard would it be to hire a guard or two?
LOL
I understand sports as a way of competition and fun. And I played backyard sports with my sons, and now with my grandkids. But don’t push any kid to seek to be a professional. Life is tough enough without going through it with a permanent injury from sports.
I know a 38 year old guy that works in IT. His age 12 through 21 years in competitive motocross has given him arthritic fingers. The keyboard is getting difficult for him.
“Non-essential”.
There are a lot of working class people who are employed in all parts of pro sports.
“Non-essential” was one of the worst things we heard during COVID.
PS I haven’t watched a full pro sports event in person or on TV in over 35 years…so I don’t have a dog in this fight.
I just remember Reagan and free enterprise.
I am semi retired, driving a semi for a farmer that leases his trucks to a commercial trucking company. Sometimes I am actually getting paid to haul baseball infield dirt. Silly to me, but I never played much baseball anyway. The boss has 3 drivers with sleeper trucks, hauling that dirt as much as 600 miles away. Me, I stay within 200 miles of home with the day cab truck I drive, usually hauling fertilizer or grain.
I just find much of the sports industry as vanity on steroids (and some actual ‘roids as well). And because of the increased addiction of parents pushing kids in sports, Sunday schools everywhere have seen numbers drop.
