Maybe it has been living in the Christmas tree for two weeks. It was in the kitchen getting a snack when they removed the tree from the house.

Kind of unusual to see a racoon attack someone inside their house. Happens once in a coon’s age, I guess.

It’s a blessing that the raccoon wasn’t rabid but seems odd that a baby in its bed would be able to invite an attack.

Baby smelled of food?
I had to kill a raccoon inside my home as it became aggressive when tried to shoo it out the door.
Raccoons can inflict a lot of damage with teeth and claws.

I and some friends went camping in the late 1980s at Taughannock falls NY.
Waged a ‘war’ against those beasts fo a week.
We drove to the 5 & 10 Woolworths in Ithaca to buy a couple of ‘water UZIs’. High powered battery power water rifles. We showed those little beasts! Ha!

Lucky no one got bit or contracted rabies or anything.

It's illegal to discharge a firearm within most city limits.

Not where I’m from.l and, surprisingly, we have no coyote or other varmit problems. For less enlightened leftist parts of America, shoot, shovel and forget.

I had about half a dozen run into my neighbor’s house and proceed to attack her two dogs.

Took me and her Son in law to run them out of there. Had a pellet gun jam on me(could very well have been operator error, I was 15ish) so I started stabbing at one of them and smashing it with the Stock.

These bastards are bold around here because if you call an exterminator, they trap them and release them at the trail which is literally a fence away.

Yes. Do a web search they exist.
But one in Ithaca, New York (where we bought the water rifles) appears to be no more.

That’d be a lot of shooting. Raccoons are everywhere, in my town.
