Annex a part of Mexico that has the likable Mexicans, Baja people are sort of like NYC people, not the nation’s best.
Your POV is perfectly understandable, but I think the Prez is engaging in negotiation tactics so I don’t take his trolling too seriously.
I recommend we annex everything except Mexico City. If we’re gonna get all of the Mexicans we might as well get the territory as well.

We had a chance to do that in the 1850s when the Mexican legislature offered to sell it to us, but we turned it down. Had we not done so, it would probably be like Florida today.
Do Mexicans today really have any say in how THEY live in their own country? We likely have a lit in common with the working g men and women of Mexico and the country has the potential to be magnificent when freed from the cartels. Perhaps a la El Salvador style prison, for those who survive arrest.

It’s a very good idea. One of the first things is to evict all Mexican Nationals to mainland Mexico. First priority then will be to fix the waste system so that Mexico quits flushing its sewage into the Pacific Ocean. Hold lottery picks for the available housing in Baja.
I'm not interested Mexico raiding the US treasury as a solution to Mexico's problem, any more than I think US workers benefited from having US jobs shipped there. The only thing for which the US is responsible re Mexico is buying drugs and sex traffiking. Both are about hiding the consequences of financing the deficit printing dollars that leave and don't come back.
I would rather we look at dumping land and citizens instead of adding more.
