I remember in 1977 paying ten dollars for a doctor visit, and fifteen dollars for a dental cleaning. Yeah, that was a lot of money then, but only a few hours of work and quite affordable even without insurance.
Hospital stays were not exactly affordable, at $92.00 a day.

Then government got involved.
Today they are approaching 20% of GDP.

We didn't have a car when I was growing up in the 50's. Our doctor's office was out of town, so he would come to the house to treat us. I think he charged $2.00 for the house call back then.
