God Bless America:

“Even though bald eagles were delisted from the Endangered Species Act in August 2007, because their populations recovered sufficiently, bald eagles are still protected under the Migratory Bird Treaty Act and the Bald and Golden Eagle Protection Act. Both laws prohibit killing, selling, or otherwise harming eagles, their nests or eggs.”

Thus agro-urban interests demand: "Protect all eagles at all costs," thus telling every shepherd and goat herder out there they have no right to protect their lambs and kids from eagles. I'd bet no one here has seen them sitting on top of the barn waiting for the babies to come out. Yet without herbivory, vegetative succession runs amok, at the expense of biodiversity, until it burns.

Watch America burn faster. Then you get weeds.

There are trade-offs you know. It's time we grew up and learned that environmental management is more complicated than our iconographic fantasies; it is a matter of competing interests and risks. If we lose the people who know how to manage animals to manage vegetation, it will take a very long time to lean that, and much more to recover.
