The trendy Texas city of Forth Worth has bumped Austin from its rank as the fourth-largest city in the Lone Star State.

The state capital was knocked down a place, making it the fifth-largest city by population in the state, according to the Texas Demographic Center's 2023 population estimates report.

The report showed population figures for Texas counties and communities for July 1, 2023, and January 1, 2024.

Austin was ranked below Houston, San Antonio, Dallas and Fort Worth.

The capital had a population estimation of 986,928, compared to 989,878 for Fort Worth, which saw a 7.7 percent increase from 2020 census data.

Not only did Forth Worth hold a higher estimated population, but it also saw a higher percentage of population growth compared to Texas' largest communities, Chron reported.

Ft. Worth is nice indeed. Restaurants, museums, zoo, river, trendy, Major University, Medical School....cool.

My mother’s brother and family lived in Ft. Worth from the early 50s to the 70s. We used to visit them every other summer in July or August in the 60s. All I remember is BUGS., steaming HEAT, horny toads...and my uncle and dad sitting in aluminum lawn chairs in the driveway drinking beer. That was before house and car AC was commonplace.

Sad but true. 😕 Fortunately, there are enough good people just holding it together until the mass hysteria subsides.

My family are native Texans and Fort Worth for 40 years...too many moving here, and

Austin is off the Left Wing Deep end. It started in the 80’s.

Austin was great until they decided to be trendy. Soon, they were soft on crime and normal people wanted to leave. Eventually, there will just be the criminals and cling-ons with small pockets of gated communities.

True. Trendy means that it was recently discovered by hipsters and affluent liberals, who seek to escape their urban hellscapes.

They appreciate the new place for its low cost of living, safe streets, good schools, authenticity, and strong sense of community.

But alas, it's a little backward. So they open new bistros, coffee houses, and art galleries. These increase rents, the cost of living, and import woke ideas.

All of Texas is booming. My daughter and her family have lived a little southwest of Fort Worth for several years. Lots of growth. They are from a blue state, but they’re staunch conservatives. Financially, Texas has been very good for them, but frankly, they have been negatively impressed by most Texans. They cite rudeness, arrogance and horrible driving as examples.

I may be mistaken but Fort Worth (Tarrant County) is the largest red-voting county in the nation.

“Austin is a woke goat rodeo.”
Someday people are going to realize that Democrats
screw everything up socially. Their feelings
override all logic they may know.
To most of us 2+2=4 Democrats may come with 3 or 5 if they feel that serves their party’s purpose.

Native Texans are proud, no doubt. (I am not one.)

Acceptable retorts are: “I wasn’t born here—but I got here as quick as I could!” and “Well, I pay taxes like a real Texan!”

Texas is also full of “newcomers.” I blame them for our reputation as drivers. So many new cars around me have “Please be patient. Student driver.” stickers and the dings to prove it.

We drove across Texas on I-10 back in the late 70s (west to east). One of my favorite memories was seeing a “Drive Friendly” sign riddled with bullet holes. I took the sign’s advice.

Austin will continue to sink until the Demonicrats destroy it or the Demonicrats are electively (or judicially) defenestrated from the city council, the AISD, and the Travis County DA’s office.
