I bet they put turbos on them, and they won’t be as durable. The government knows best.
Was the 1.3 liter a turbo? That’s a tiny displacement.
I wasn’t that lucky. The whitetail deer I hit was square on to the radiator and the radiator literally exploded as it wrapped around the deer and then threw it 40 feet off the interstate. It was 20° out and a dark moonless night so when the radiator exploded it turned into a huge jet of white steam and coated the windshield so I could see nothing while I was still going 75 miles an hour. The driver side airbag even deployed and knocked my hands off the steering wheel but I managed to grab it again and keep it going straight and roll to a stop. I was kind of irritated because the airbag being deployed totaled my vehicle and I never was in danger of actually hitting the steering wheel in my face because when the airbag deployed it didn’t even touch my face, I had no facial burns and my glasses were still on.
I had three older Nissan 4cyl gas pickups during 1992-2010. Good little trucks. I moved to American V8 4wd for more haulability.
I hope for Honda’s sake the quality does not go down.
Honda’s quality is already going down the tubes. Making them in Mexico now. The thinnest of metals and the cheapest interiors. Price tag doesn’t go down....odd
“Mercedes offers the S-class sedan with either a 429-hp turbocharged 3.0-liter inline-six-cylinder engine in the S500 or a 496-hp twin-turbo 4.0-liter V-8 in the S580.
Both powertrains are supplemented by a 48-volt hybrid system and pair with a nine-speed automatic transmission and 4Matic all-wheel drive.”
Nissan is a failing company. This merger is hopefully a takeover by Honda.
I’m surprised they held out as long as they did. Japanese automakers were overdue for a consolidation. Their domestic market and workforce is dying off (literally), and they need to consolidate remaining resources in an attempt to stay competitive with Chinese and other automakers on a global scale.
In the US. In Europe I’m pretty sure I saw some 4 cylinder ones a couple of months ago.
Nissan, Honda
Hissan?
Nionda?
Nissa?
A number of years ago, Euro S-class could be had with 4 cylinder diesels. Used for taxis AFAIK.
This could workout. Nissan builds pretty good trucks which Honda doesn’t do. And Mitsu builds a pretty nice line of small SUVs that just need better drivetrains to be competitive. Honda offers good quality drivetrains and modern amenities. I could see a Honda Frontier in your future.
1. Organizational cultures very different.
2. Market segment too similar
3. Nissan seemed desperate to find a buyer, Honda going into this less than enthusiastic.
New Brand Name
NISHONDA
Automatic market in da hood
I think this would be a good deal for Nissan. Maybe Honda wants the Nissan Leaf platform...I hear people use it to convert other vehicles to be hybrids.

The issue is most manufacturers are putting turbos on them to have the performance of a 6.
No vehicle made for the us market can be sold for 12k
Too many epa regulations, crash safety regulations, and other bs mandated by fed law.
Off the top of my head.
Airbags
Obd2 systems
Emergency lte telemetrics for the life of the car
Tire pressure sensors
Seat belt LATCH system
internal release handle for trunks
Speed limit regulators(by law in 28)
Rear cameras
Various emission components
Avg mpg across products
Crash recording databoxes(black boxes)
Some of this good, some bad, but when you require a car to have a list of partd a mile long it jacks the price up. Again this is off the top of my head.
This will be very bad for Honda.
Nissan and Mitsubishi will kill that company.
Yes, it did have a turbo.
