Japanese automakers Honda and Nissan have announced plans to join forces, forming the world’s third-largest automaker by sales as the industry undergoes dramatic changes in its transition away from fossil fuels.
The two companies said they had signed a memorandum of understanding on Monday and that smaller Nissan alliance member Mitsubishi Motors also had agreed to join the talks on integrating their businesses.
“We anticipate that if this integration comes to fruition, we will be able to deliver even greater value to a wider customer base,” Nissan’s CEO Makoto Uchida said in a statement.

We’re getting ready to sell the 2003 Dodge 2500 and get a Frontier. We were going to get s Tacoma until.they changed the engine. Our in laws love their Frontier.
My daughter drives a 2013 Honda CRV with the 2.4 liter 4 banger. Good little engine. I helped another young woman buy a 2021 CRV and it had a 1.3 liter engine. Tiny little thing, but it ran well. About the size of a sewing machine.
Nonda?
Off topic…. But have you guys heard about the $12,000 Toyota pick up supposedly coming out soon? Is that a legit story? I have a hard time any any auto maker can make and sell a vehicle for 12 grand.
WOW.! Somebody is really rolling in the bucks.. :) Good for you.!
My wife wants me to keep my old truck and get her a new Explorer. I am completely, absolutely and totally opposed.. :(
They’re putting 4’s in Mercedes S class I’m told.
I like Nissan for the beauty of their design but Honda makes better engines and transmissions. If done right this merger should benefit both with more stylish Hondas and more reliable Nissans.
Frontier is a good truck. I had one. It had a problem with coolant fluid leaking into the Transmission through the cooler. There was problem with metallurgy of the fluid line.
If I would have kept it it would still be running. Not perfect but a solid vehicle. I have a Tacoma now. Very similar.
Nonda? Hondissan? 😊👍🎅🙏
The problem is that the Tacoma’s no longer have a V6.
They now have a 4 cylinder turbo. Which gives me pause.
I am on my third Tacoma(1988, 1999, 2012). The last one is best vehicle I have ever owned. I don’t put a lot of miles on it(115m). So, I may just keep it and buy something else to drive in the summer.
I have been looking at a Lexus IS 350 hard top convertible.
They made these from 2010-2015. Typically they were secondary cars. So, they can sometimes be found with pretty low mileage. There is one right now for sale in MN with 19K miles and it is a 2010. It was originally a FL car. The only thing I have read that there are a several motors responsible for open and closing that three piece hard top. So. you want to make sure that top opens and closes smoothly prior to purchase.
I saw a YouTube video about that over the weekend. Basically a stripped down truck similar to the way they came back in the 1980s with the old 2.4 liter 4 cyl. Of course, IF you add a automatic transmission and 4WD and anything else I suspect the price jumps to $20K+ pretty quickly.
They are defiantly coming out with the 2025 Toyota FJ Cruiser again.

Wow. Cars usually hit them in the flank when they are crossing the highway.
What you said.
My 1988 Tacoma was $8875 brand new.
2.4 liter 4 cyl
4 speed manual transmission
6’ bed.
Single cab
manual roll down windows. Electric windows were extra.
It did not come with a radio. I put a Sanyo cassette deck and Jensen speaks behind the seats.
These were actually just called the Toyota pick up. This was prior to making a bigger T100 truck too.
These were also assembled partially in California. Where they added the beds to beat some kind of protection tariff.
Definitely will not be sold in the US. Lots of great stuff out there globally that is off limits to us thanks to mother government
Nissan has one car Honda and the rest of Japan doesn’t.
The GTR!
I’ve got a 2012 XTerra that I like. It is essentially a Frontier without the bed.
The problem is they will be putting turbos on them. They won’t be as durable.
