A man who entered a chapel in Redlands and said Jesus had let him down smashed three statues, caused other damage and threatened a person who was praying on Friday, Dec. 6, employees said.
The damage was estimated at $20,000, Redlands Police Department spokesperson Carl Baker said. No arrests have been announced.
Marie Marino, who works in the gift shop of the El Carmelo Retreat House on E. Highland Avenue, said witnesses described the man and his car to investigators. Police declined to provide a description of the man.
Marino said she believes the Catholic-based prayer center was a victim of a hate crime. Baker said there is no evidence of that, although the investigation is continuing.
“Everyone is really disturbed because it’s quiet here,” Marino said. “Everyone who comes here is family.”
The man entered around 10 a.m. and complained about Jesus, Marino said. The statues are 3 to 4 feet tall. Two were made of wood and one was hard plaster. He threw statues depicting the Sacred Heart of Jesus, Mary holding Jesus, and St. Miriam toward the altar, said Lolita Azhocar, who works in the office.

Doesn’t sound like they caught him.

Just for once, I’d like to see this kind of stunt pulled at a mosque for a change.

“Police declined to provide a description of the man.”
Isn’t there a rule for that?

Where was Merrick Garland when this happened?

Jesus didn’t let him down.
But praying to statues did.

I believe this is in Southern California. With the open borders, expect the statues thing to become more popular.

So they had it coming?
That’s sick.
Nobody prays to statues, no matter what your Jack Chick reacts say.
To: fishtank
you believe having religious statues is the same as praying to them? So you’re against nativity scenes or does that get a pass?

But praying to statues did. Even the most ignorant Catholic knows not to "pray to statues." They know they are asking the Saint represented by the statue for their prayers, much as any Christian asks others here on earth for prayers.

As was noted on an earlier (apparently now deleted) thread, anti-Catholicism is on the rise with around 500 reported physical incidents in the last 4 years. It is also on the rise on the internet, especially on social media.

El Carmelo Retreat House is a great place. Sits on the top of a hill with a spectacular view.
They have a really good carnival every summer.
Went to quite a few religious retreats there growing up.

I kinda like seeing the Nativity scenes but I also think about Exodus 20
Exodus 20:4-6
21st Century King James Version 4 “
Thou shalt not make unto thee any graven image, or any likeness of anything that is in Heaven above, or that is in the Earth beneath, or that is in the water under the Earth.
5
Thou shalt not bow down thyself to them, nor serve them; for I, the Lord thy God, am a jealous God, visiting the iniquity of the fathers upon the children unto the third and fourth generation of them that hate Me,
6 and showing mercy unto thousands of them that love Me and keep My commandments.
That being said, I often wonder WHAT kind of "image" will be brought to "life" and "speak" (by the False Prophet) - I certainly pray that the Church is not here to see these things happen, though obviously Tribulation Saints will be - and will pay with their lives - but gain their eternal souls (Revelation 20:4 - for the thread) - God bless - keep those prayers coming, Saints - thank you very much
The Godless Globalists WILL get Satan's Antichrist, who "confirms" 7 years of 'Peace and Security'. You can count on it. It has been foretold long, long ago. It is on the horizon.

I personally think that the image of the Antichrist will be brought to “life” by AI.
