Using the example image, when it's off it doesn't block your view.

My first thought as well. Most people don't put their tvs in front of picture windows as shown in the example photos. Who wants to see their wall behind the screen?

RIGHT! I’d rather have one of the 85” Samsungs. I’ve had a 55” Samsung going on 9 years, and it’s still doing great.

The only reason I can think of is to make porn somewhat more realistic. Other than that, I think it would be a distraction.

Once cheaper, I expect this to be common in store front window displays or built in as windows for places where they want a view most of the time and a TV some of the time.
