For the record, that song is called “Linus and Lucy” IIRC. Like all the music for the Peanuts specials, it was composed by Vince Guaraldi.

Silent Night by Mannheim Steamroller via Rush Limbaugh. The many Christmas albums of MS are an annual staple within my walls (house and vehicle). Thank you Rush, and Chip Davis.

Yep, RUSH was ahead of his time with MS, before they were a household name.

Star of the East--The Trinity Choir (1923).
Composed by Amanda Kennedy in 1918, a time of war, pestilence and political turmoil, the song differs from the "holly-jolly" feelgood tunes of the season by offering a promise of hope in "death's lonely night."
Star of the East, oh Bethlehem's star,
Guiding us on to heaven afar.
Sorrow and grief and lulled by thy light
Thou hope of each mortal, in death's lonely night

Fearless and tranquil, we look up to thee
Knowing thou beam'st through eternity.
Help us to follow where thou still dost guide
Pilgrims of earth so wise.

Oh star that leads to God above,
Whose rays are peace and joy and love.
Watch o'er us still till life hath ceased.
Beam on, bright star, sweet Bethlehem star

Star of the East, thou hope of the soul
While round us here the dark billows roll
Lead us from sin to glory afar
Thou star of the East, thou sweet Bethlehem's star

My Christmas is not complete without re-reviewing the Christmas flashmob that moves me to tears annually. Enjoy.

Love:
Oh Holy night. The first Noel. Christmas Cannon.

Dislike: Simply having a wonderful Christmas Time. That Mariah Carey one. That Michael George one.

"Oh,come all ye faithful"; "Oh, little town of Bethlehem" .....and so many more.

Most hated - no doubt. "Last Christmas" Boring tune and the most inane words ever.

“This Christmas “ by the late, great Donny Hathaway is my favorite.

On the one hand, “I’ll Be Home for Christmas” is in the category of cloying sentimentality that I generally despise.

On the other hand ... having more than once been in the position of wanting very much to be “home for Christmas” and being kept very far from home due to forces greater than myself ... I can feel it.

The song was published in 1943 ... as you may recall there was a bit of a brouhaha going on back then, and a lot of men could only dream of being home for Christmas.

It's too broad a question.

There are two distinct genre of Christmas songs, the sacred/religious and the secular.

I like most of the sacred/religious songs, as long as they aren't bastardized stories in modern idioms.

I like about half of the secular ones, mostly the traditional songs (Jingle Bells, Deck the Halls, Silver Bells, etc.)
