This is the dramatic moment a Ukrainian aircraft-style drone explodes after flying into a Russian special forces base more than 700 miles from the front line.
Several drones reportedly struck the OMON police unit in Grozny, and a base from where troops are sent to fight against Ukraine.
Loud explosions were reported in the city, which is the capital of Chechnya, a region headed by Putin warlord Ramzan Kadyrov, who has sent tens of thousands of troops to the war.
Shooting was heard in attempts to down the pilotless plane loaded with explosives, but there appeared a lack of air defences against the slow-moving incoming drones.
It is the third strike on the city in just 11 days.

I’ve been seeing plenty of videos of drones in Ukraine destroying people and vehicles. They’re hard to defend against. I wouldn’t be surprised in the least if Islamists were looking at them to enable another 9/11 attack. Drone swarms all over the place, especially at open sporting events, and let us not forget the upcoming inauguration.
Have you seen the drone swarm shows or demonstrations at night where the sky is lite up with a bunch of them flying into shapes or words - it is a new twist on fireworks;)

Both the VTOL and aircraft style drones/UAV’s/Hobby aircraft can be flown first person with a headset. My architect buddy was building performance drones years back that could reach nearly 200 mph and the vehicle itself could be built for under $200 then.
You could “ride along” with a spare headset and it is ALL the benefits of flying minus the screamy/deathy part involved with crashing LOL

They’re very hard to shoot down with regular rifles and handguns. Even if you have lots of people with shotguns, a swarm of them, loaded with small amounts of explosives, would still be extremely hard to defend against.
Some of these light shows have 1000’s of them. Now imagine trying to stop them if they swarmed like flies toward a target.
Seriously, it seems inevitable that they’ll be used in a mass attack.
Those Russian hits looked like summer, gree trees, bright sunlight.
Where I was headed: Most “drones” are not drones. They are remotely controlled.
But I think we’re at a time where the meaning of the word is changing. And I do see ICBMs as “drones”. What it’s worth, my father worked on the electronics of the ICBM’s back in the ‘60s and I worked on material planning for ALCMs in the ‘80s.
