Fox Sports analyst Colin Cowherd has claimed the NBA and the Democrat party share an issue when it comes to losing supporters.
Despite signing a 11-year, $76 billion TV deal with Disney, NBC and Amazon this summer, the NBA's ratings have taken a severe hit over the past decade with figures plummeting even further this season.
The league's ratings have taken a 48 percent drop over the last 12 years, and this year alone they are down 28 percent on ESPN, according to Front Office Sports.
Many fans and analysts have pointed to load management as a source of blame but while Cowherd agreed in part, he suggested there was an added factor behind the reasoning - and it's to do with the American people.
'The NBA ratings are down 48 percent in the last 12 years and they have fallen off a cliff this year and Adam Silver's solution is let's make the courts brighter,' he began on his FS1 show, 'The Herd.'
'I like the NBA but I think the All-Star game is now embarrassing. Load management is a shame on the league. It is a really bad look for a family of four to go to a game and the [stars] don't play.
'Go ask the Democrats. Be warned, once you detach from regular people in America, you will pay a price.'
Vice President Kamala Harris's campaign, of course, went on to suffer a landslide defeat to Donald Trump when the American people took to the polls on November 5.

Basketball these days is nothing more than entertainment for people who can afford season tickets so they can do business while entertaining their client. The NBA has done some good things to bring more kids into the fold, but that’s about it.
If referees actually called infractions, they would hyperventilate due to all the calls they would have to whistle.
Pro B-Ball is pretty much unwatchable...college Hoop is far superior IMHO...
Jonathan Iaasac, Orlando Magic. Awesome guy. Refused to EVER sit for the national anthem even at the height of the BLM nonsense. There is audio of him explaining why and he does an excellent job of that.
Watch more hockey. All basketball is unwatchable imo.
Evidently some people are waking up to what the Amish have done to this country and are voting with their pocketbook.
And force racial parity. We force it in every other arena (of life). Why not pro sports?
Yes. This. It’s an awful product
That occurred to me too. I don’t really follow basketball.
But I can see that considering so many teams make the playoffs, regular season games just don’t matter. So I can imagine basketball fans tune in for the playoffs ,and don’t even care about the regular season
I think that’s very true. I cut the chord and my Red Wings with it. I’m not going to pay Bally’s a subscription multiple times what other subscriptions cost just to watch them. It’s absurd.
I watch YouTube highlight videos instead, after the game.
(Yes, I know there’s some ways around all this but it is not close to optimal.)
The three-point shot ruined basketball.
Star Power still drives sports. There are no marketable superstars in the NBA, LeBron has become a pariah.
Just look at the recent Mike Tyson fight for an example of how Star Power drives ratings.

“TOO Much LIBERAL POLITICS - Kerr, Popovich, Doc Rivers, Steph Curry, Lebron James”
I’m not going to say that most or even a significant cohort of fans are staying away for political reasons, but, clearly, the NBA is the professional sports league with the greatest number of annoyingly smug, self-satisfied leftists, especially the prominent names that you mention. And the hypocrisy of it is just stunning, as those gentlemen and the entire league coddles the People’s Rep. of China where human-rights abuses are the order of the day.
Now I'm starting to view all sports like that.
Actually I watch most sports, highlights only, on YouTube now.
The amount of (particularly woke) commercials on live broadcast is ridiculous, ruined the experience for me long ago.
Not to mention so many are controlled by gambling interests...have to wonder if they are still considered "sports"...or just entertainment, like professional wrestling.
I get the same feel. Others noticed too. That's why people were saying that the Super Bowl's outcome was "scripted".
In the end, it's all about the $$$.
Growing up a Lions fan...with a father that was a Steeler fan...I watched the differences in, among other things...officiating.
I believe the Lions situation is unique.
As long as the Ford family owns them (unless I'm proven wrong) they will NEVER win a Super Bowl.
I don't buy all the hype about them the last couple of years, with all the ineptitude over the years decades the fan-base was finally starting to check-out...so the (NFL) powers-that-be have gone easy on the yellow flags lately...ALLOWING them to be "competitive"(keeping/restoring interest, more importantly, butt$ in the $eat$).
...though I also believe there is an element of (Layne?)"curse"/bad-luck attached to this franchise, as every time I think I've seen (over my 60+ years) every way to lose a football game, the Lions (with/without help from the NFL) would provide another.
Win or lose...wouldn't make much difference now anyway.
...too many other things to concern ourselves with in the country/world right now.
Sports/entertainment/other come across as just...diversions.
...perhaps THAT has just become what they are.
Also they got rid of traveling...
They should play an exhibition game, using high school refs and see how many turnovers they go through!
