Daniel Penny, the young Marine veteran who earlier this week beat murder charges brought by Alvin Bragg, will be Vice President-elect J.D. Vance’s special guest at the upcoming Army-Navy football game on Saturday.
FLVoiceNews’ Eric Daugherty wrote on X that the two men will be joined by President-elect Donald Trump in a private suite. “Daniel’s a good guy, and New York’s mob district attorney tried to ruin his life for having a backbone,” Vance added in a post on X. “I’m grateful he accepted my invitation and hope he’s able to have fun and appreciate how much his fellow citizens admire his courage.”
Although separated by decades in age, Penny and Trump share a familiar foe in Bragg, Manhattan’s district attorney who last year charged Penny with two counts of homicide following the chokehold death of Jordan Neely, a mentally ill Black man threatening passengers on a city subway train. A jury deadlocked on Penny’s first charge of negligent homicide and on Monday found him not guilty of a lesser manslaughter charge, exonerating him after toxicologists testified that a cocktail of illicit drugs in Neely’s system likelier contributed to his death. Penny had placed the Michael Jackson impersonator in a chokehold after witnesses say he began threatening passengers with his fists, with some fearing Neely was carrying a dangerous weapon.
Like Vance, Penny, 26, served in the U.S. Marine Corps, and his status as a veteran helped rally conservatives behind him financially and in the media. A GiveSendGo legal defense fund in Penny’s name ultimately raised more than $3.3 million by the end of his trial. New York City Councilwoman Vickie Paladino, a Republican, has called on the Trump-Vance administration to launch a civil rights investigation into Bragg’s office, alleging he unfairly targeted Penny because he is white and Neely is Black.
“It’s really simple. The Manhattan D.A. has made this racial. We have seen what A.G. Bragg has been capable of and has tried to pursue, and I think between Trump and now, this is the icing on the cake, with Penny… They make it a vendetta. He is definitely political. This is politicized, and I think he needs to be investigated. I think the whole DA’s office in Manhattan needs to be investigated,” she told “Fox & Friends First” on Tuesday.
Following Penny’s acquittal, Bragg suggested in a statement that he would not relitigate the case. “The jury has now spoken. At the Manhattan D.A.’s Office, we deeply respect the jury process, and we respect their verdict,” he said on Monday. “Unfortunately, over the duration of this trial, talented career prosecutors and their family members were besieged with hate and threats – on social media, by phone and over email. Simply put, this is unacceptable, and everyone, no matter your opinion on this case, should condemn it.
“These are prosecutors who have dedicated decades of their lives to public service and to the safety of Manhattan. I am grateful to them, as well as to the NYPD for their hard work and commitment on not only this matter, but for all they do on behalf of New Yorkers. I also want to thank Judge Wiley for presiding over this case. Finally, I want to thank the members of the jury who took time out of their lives to diligently evaluate the evidence.”
Sign him up with the FBI as a security guard for officials.
Excellent PR move and Daniel Penny deserves this.
This is a sign that that Trump era Republicans are no longer “The stupid party”? Hopefully!
********** Ye old saying is that Democrats are the evil party. Republicans are the stupid party.********
From WSJ —
“Former Wyoming GOP Sen. Alan Simpson, one of the most acerbic characters in our politics, used to call Republicans “the stupid party.” But Sen. Simpson wasn’t done. Democrats, he said, were “the evil party.””
I’m sure the liberals will squeal about this.
As usual.
Yes!
I saw this on X. And I saw that Trump is inviting Tulsi Gabbard. These invitations are wonderful!
Kudos to Trump. The everyman’s man.
Superb! The right thing to do, sending the right message and bonus points for optics.
As much as I support Trump advance, I think this was a really really bad idea.
.....Daniel Penny, the young Marine veteran who earlier this week beat murder charges brought by Alvin Bragg, will be Vice President-elect J.D. Vance’s special guest at the upcoming Army-Navy football game on Saturday.....
Excellent! He’ll get to be with President-Elect Trump, too!
Daniel Penny is pursuing degree in architecture—not “security”! He is a noble exemplar of a good citizen coming to the aid of his fellow citizens, not a future “security guard’! It is Alvin Bragg who is a thug—NOT Dan Penny!
How much does Bragg cost the taxpayers each year? How many criminals are released to do harm to the public?
Go Navy!
