I agree Israel caused the fall of Assad, but not as part of a nefarious plot to get Christian’s killed, as you allege.
As I have plainly stated multiple times, Israel, as a democracy, was obligated to take on hezbollah as well as it could, considering the virtually daily missile strikes from them since October, 8th 2023 ha caused 60,000 internal refugees within Israel. Israel destroyed most of their leadership, much of their missile and launcher inventory, disrupted their arms flow, literally blew up their bank, etc.
Separately, Russia has been greatly tied up in Ukraine, leaving them weakened locally for Assad. They have bigger fish to fry nearer to home. I have no dog in that fight, but Russia became an unreliable supporter who was previously critical to the survival of the regime.
Assad relied heavily on hezbollah and Russia to survive the last civil war, as documented severally.
With hezbollah unable to effectively retreat to defend Damascus, and with limp Russian support (indeed they largely fled) Damascus fell.
Israel caused it insofar as they were obligated to take out hezbollah, as any elected leadership would be required by their electorate.
So the domino effect of Assad falling was not an intended consequence. Netanyahu is claiming credit this morning for Assad’s defeat, which is accidentally true, but was never an explicit war objective before it occurred.
But in no manner is it an Israeli objective to have Christian’s killed, as you have directly accused. Your post #3 is evil.
If you were to retract that evil and mistaken accusation, I’ll happily ignore you.
I will not retract that Christians have been/will be killed as a result of these Israeli actions. I never said (as you just claimed) that it was an “Israeli objective”. That is just another made up claim by you in a whole series of made up claims.
There were Christians who were living safely in Syria and Lebanon who will now be dead.
I understand that you aren’t worried about innocent Christians dying in Lebanon and Syria. They are an afterthought to you and whatever amount end up dying is an acceptable price.
I am worried about it. I don’t like it. That is why I mentioned it in my reply. I will not apologize for it.
“Israel will just have to (take over some more territory from them), kill more Christians”
That’s a direct accusation, and I’m going to hand it around your neck.
Changing tagline.
LOL. Why the parentheses?
If Israel drops a bomb on a Syrian building and a Christian dies, would it be incorrect to say the person was “killed”? Would it be wrong to say “Israel killed them”?
Let me guess…”It is wrong to say that because they didn’t do it INTENTIONALLY”
But you would say that a virus killed a person or a tornado killed a person. But to drop a bomb on someone isn’t “killing them”.
You are reduced to adding parentheses into a quote and arguing semantics to try to paint me as evil for criticizing your favorite country.
“Why the parentheses?”
Because that’s what FR DOES, dork.
Would you care to amend your original direct accusation that “Israel will just have to ... kill more Christians” to something more accurate like,
“In its several defensive wars against jihadists, Israel unintentionally collateral kills civilians including Christians, often due to the jihadi’s use of civilians as human sheilds.”?
If so, then that would be a useful clarification from what seems like a direct accusation that Israel targets Christians because of their religion.
Everyone is counting the days until Biden’s is gone...
Didn’t think so.
Like I have already said, I don’t think they target them due to their religion. I never said they did.
The article I was replying to was portraying Israel as a victim of the outcome of the civil war. Go back and read it again.
I correctly pointed out that they were NOT a victim of the outcome. They were a cause of the outcome. You initially argued with me about this but then acknowledged that I was correct.
I then pointed out that the outcome is beneficial to Israel in that it will allow them to take more territory by force. Since I typed those words they have done exactly that.
I then pointed out that taking the territory will result in Christians being KILLED. That may be acceptable to you but it isn’t to me.
I then pointed out that this is all in the pursuit of Greater Israel.
Everything I said was accurate.
I don’t need to restate it a 3rd time for you.
If you are too stupid to understand what I meant, that’s too bad.
If you do understand what I meant and you don’t like it, that’s too bad also.
King of plausibly deniable anti-semitism.
Unwilling to even rephrase a direct accusation that Israel kills Christians on purpose.
“Like I have already said, I don’t think they target them due to their religion. I never said they did.”
Then please retract and rephrase the following so it doesn’t sound exactly like that:
“Israel will just have to ... kill more Christians” - FR’s own “nitzy”
I thought the 900 US troops were there since the former Trump administration, and remember when Trump had the Iran military guy killed, many thought that was a good thing. I don’t think Biden made any increases from the number Trump left there. These 900 were specifically to block ISIS, and to help the Kurds who gave us lot of support in northern Iraq in earlier wrs. Unfortunately, there are Kurds in conflict in Turkey with the Erdogon government which is a complication there.
You remember correctly. The US troops in Syria were there to defend, well, everyone, against ISIS. And to keep the Turks from messing with the Kurds.
NOT
GOOD
ENOUGH.
Your first post #3, directly read, accuses Israel of targetting Christians for death.
Until you recognize that mistake and correct it by withdrawing it, you’re on record as having stated Jews want Christians dead.
Half revisions later do not suffice.
DIRECTLY WITHDRAW YOUR MISTAKE OR CONTINUE TO LIVE WITH IT.
I don’t understand what you mean by “withdraw” my statement.
I told you that you misunderstood it and what I actually meant. What more could I do?
Take back these words publicly that state Israel INTENDS to kill more Christians:
“Israel will just have to ... kill more Christians”
Something like, “My words may be directly understood to mean that Israel intends to target Christians for killing. That was not what I meant. What I meant was... (fill in the blank.)”
You have admitted as much in as ‘round about manner as possible elsewhere. Step up to the plate like a big boy and disown the plain meaning of your original words, and feel free to amend them in a way that doesn’t directly accuse Jews of murdering Christians because of their religion.
Easy peasy.
Until you do that in direct response to your original post, you are currently on record as believing it.
