WASHINGTON - A young teenager will spend the next seven years behind bars for her role in the beating death of a frail D.C. man on a street in Northwest last year.
The 13-year-old was sentenced Wednesday. In court, she apologized before she was ordered held until her 21st birthday.
All five girls involved in the beating death of 64-year-old Reggie Brown, a D.C. man who family says suffered from multiple disabilities and was battling to beat cancer, were between the ages of 12 and 15 when they committed the crime in October 2023.
Despite their age, the girls are all being held accountable for the shocking and brutal crime. Two of them were found guilty of second-degree murder by a judge last month.
The attack happened near Georgia Ave., NW, around 1 a.m. on Oct. 17, 2023. Prosecutors said the five teen girls targeted Brown at random, punching and kicking him to death as he was walking home.
According to evidence, Brown was left lying on his back with multiple lacerations and contusions. His pants were pulled off, and his shoes were removed. The medical examiner ruled that his death was due to blunt force trauma.
Two of the murder victim's sisters, Nasia Israel and Malda Brown, spoke after the 13-year-old was sentenced Wednesday.
"It saddens me that these young girls could be so brutal and do something so severe," Malda Brown said. "I’m just grateful that the judge did give them the time that D.C. commits until to 21, so we are grateful for that. It’ll make my mom feel so much better once we get home to let her know that that did take place."

Murder sentences should never depend on the life expectancy of the victim.
Another such murder happened in Philiadelphia as well.
And there was one in DC where a young man knocked an old man down and the girls said, can we hit him too.
That’s this case. The young man hasn’t been identified.
If you have an elderly parent you care about, they should never be left alone in public not even to bring a car closer. They are targets and can be assulted in seconds. They must wait inside shops and office buildings to avoid these thug gangs. Don’t assume high end shopping centers are safe they are not. There are not enough Daniel Pennys around and the liberals want to get rid of the few that are left. In 20 years, the elderly and disabled aren’t won’t be in public anymore.Things are changing you can’t see it but we are slowly being permanently cloistered.

My rule of thumb: Be wary of any place on a bus line.
Side story: There was a big, beautiful indoor mall not too far from me. Well, one day the owners stupidly decided to place a bus stop near one of the entrances.
Crime exploded at the mall. Muggings, shoplifting, car thefts, etc. A friend of mine was a local police officer. He told me to stay away from the mall on Friday and Saturday evenings. Just stay away.
The mall is now closed and bordered up. That was due to many factors. But that bus stop played a big part.

My last job in DC was at Thomas Circle, not far from where the riots took place in the 1960s. It was my habit to jog every other day from my office, through Lafayette Park, past the White House and around the Monument, then back to work again. This was less than 8 years ago. On a corner very near my office building a young woman who was jogging paused at a traffic light. It is customary to jog in place until the light changes. As she was jogging in place, someone stabbed her to death. Turns out he thought she was white, but she ws hispanic. I stopped running at lunch time.
She’ll come out at 21 worse than now, I bet.
Herakles for immigration Czar, just give them a free plane ride and drop them off. Make sure they are sterilized first though. They can just be pass around girls, but never mothers.
