I grew up in the Cold War era with two superpowers competing in many places.
The world today is totally different. Nobody ought to be playing superpower. It’s a multi-polar world and it’s dangerous. We should try very hard not to get involved.
A world without a benevolent superpower will descend into chaos. This is not to say that the superpower should get involved in wars and the resolution of every dispute but its presence as a powerful force and a force for good has a stabilizing effect. Picture Trump 2017-2021. Contrary to what the Left says a bipolar world or a multipolar world is not a good thing. We had a bipolar world during the Cold War and the world was a very dangerous place then.
