An employee at the Dallas Police Department was fired following accusations that she lied about her college degree to receive a promotion.
Gina Fowler-Strickland, who was a police report representative, was terminated on Thursday after a disciplinary hearing with the police chief, Fox 4 reported.
The police department said Strickland was fired for “engaging in adverse conduct when she was arrested for the offense of fraudulent, substandard or fictitious degree.”
Strickland was charged in June 2023 with fraud/fictitious degree over allegations she was lying about a postsecondary degree to receive a promotion a year before, court records show, according to Fox 4.
She failed to show up to a court hearing, and a warrant was issued for her arrest in September. The warrant, however, was later recalled, although it is unclear why.
Court records revealed that the district attorney’s office eventually dismissed the charge in November after Strickland completed a pre-trial intervention program.

She lied.!
Most of the DEI folks do that very thing...
You’d have to be profoundly stupid to believe your resume won’t eventually be checked, especially something as blatant as falsely claiming you have a college degree.
The only ones able to get away with lying about their past achievements are politicians.
It’s actually fraud that can lead to hundreds of thousands of misbegotten government funds in a few years.
Should be treated like other similar fraud.
I imagine this actually happens a lot but few are caught or is verification even attempted. Of course most degrees nowadays aren’t indicative of accomplishment at all.
There is no reason to lie about a degree. If your work product is good enough, let that substitute.

Well, she is black so...
🤷
”Substandard” probably describes most degrees now.
Oh my, I didn’t need to look. That’s not a man?
This is why my fake PhD is from University of Prague. No way they are checking that.
...or good at a con. I know one consultant who claims to have graduated from one of the many colleges that have closed down over the last few years.

My real PhD is from Faber College. None of my relatives thought I’d graduate because I was usually on double-secret probation. But I proved them wrong. Now I’m a doctor, just like Dr. Jill Biden.
Ah, those were the days.
“There is no reason to lie about a degree. If your work product is good enough, let that substitute.”
Well, actually in the federal government I saw many job announcements that required a degree to even qualify to be considered for the position.....and or if the application grading system is numerically scored she was probably trying to pad what her grade would have been.
As far as being no reason, yes there was........greed.
I’m a couple of credits short of an associates degree in business management from the mid 90s.
The reason I didn’t finish is that I got a job elsewhere and had to relocate.
During that time, I got a couple of diplomas in television production and bookkeeping.
I usually put down vocational school and if it comes up, explain the circumstances in an interview. Come to find out, there are a few like me in that regard.
Okay, I looked. Are you sure that isn’t a man with a wig? Seriously.
That photo needed a Shock warning alert.
It’s racist to verify degrees.
Back when my office was in the business of doing background investigations, a regional director of FEMA had declared on his SF 86, security form, that he had a doctoral degree. He did not know a security clearance included a full field corroboration of items on the security form (along with those developed from other sources). He did not have any degree.
He was a white guy so race was not an issue as a black AUSA declined to prosecute the bum with the AUSA citing that no one was hurt. “The doctor” was fired eventually.
So, my sense here is this was handled just like the cited matter. Race is not always the deciding factor.
The only ones able to get away with lying about their past achievements are politicians.

That’s because they are professional liars. Its their stock and trade.
