Donald Trump announced Saturday he would impose a 100% tariff on BRICS nations if they try to replace the dollar in international trade, impacting a group of major developing economies whose members include Russia, India, China and Iran, among others, marking the latest threats by the president-elect to impose tariffs on imports from several countries.
In a post on Truth Social, Trump said the 100% tariff would affect all BRICS countries—Brazil, Russia, India, China, South Africa, Iran, Egypt, Ethiopia and the United Arab Emirates—until they commit to not creating a new BRICS currency or back another currency that could replace the “mighty” dollar.

China does depend heavily on the US market. And Russia depends heavily on China.

Threatening people into holding US dollars does not indicate strength of the US dollar, or economy. It indicates weakness.
But I don't care about Chinese or Indians. What I do care about is that the next logical step would be Govt capital controls on US Citizens and US assets.

There’s probably almost no trade with Russia and zero with Iran. The US needs to find replacement trading partners to reduce trade with China especially with respect to industries critical to defense and infrastructure. I really don’t care about the plastic toys and stuffed animals.
The other countries should be treated on a case by case basis with carrots and sticks.
The World is put on notice, you don’t mess around with Trump’s US. No Nation building, no trying to make the world safe for Globalism or “democracy, no, only what benefits the US. No more leaching bu the rest of the World.

The problem with the dollar is the Fed. Trump should appoint people who won’t print money. If he doesn’t, the dollar will weaken, and it won’t be some other country’s fault.
We funded the World while the left was allowed to rot us out from the inside. NO MORE! Reckoning are being made!
Making the dollar strong and having people fighting to get it is simple. Stop printing dollars.

“The idea that the Brics Countries are trying to move away from the Dollar while we stand by and watch is OVER,” Trump wrote in a post to his Truth Social platform on Saturday afternoon.
I like it. With around 50% of our strategic materials coming from mostly Brics countries, we will be paying 100% more to make munitions. We won’t be able to afford these forever wars.
