Happy Thanksgiving!
Let's be thankful for God's Blessings and pray for a less expensive meal next year as we are then hopefully thanking God for returning our nation to its founding principles.

Is it just in my area or are cranberries more pricey then usual?
Not the canned stuff. The fresh.

I paid 99 cents for dried cranberries in a small net at Aldi’s 2 days ago - I had never cooked them before so I had to look it up - pretty simple - I’ve used half of them so far along with canned cranberry sauce to make a glaze for a small sliced Frick’s ham

They just don’t get it. It isn’t that you CAN make a Thanksgiving dinner for $58, it’s that so many can’t make the Thanksgiving dinner they WANT or USED to make for $58 . . .

Boil the fresh berries in Water, Orange Juice and a bit of sugar till the berries pop open and then reduce the mixture to thicken it up. Add a dash of salt and possibly a dash of Cinnamon to taste.

Joe Arpaio feeds 1000s for $2 each a day. No one may like it, but you can do it.

I put in a lot of sugar was surprised that it was barely sweet
I’ll try the cinnamon tomorrow as I plan to modify it a bit
I had been looking at orange juice 🍊🍊🍊 but I was right on the edge of the money I had
May be able to get some brown sugar tomorrow
Thanks!

Feed the company offal that’s left over after slaughter. No one else would probably want that, so it will be cheap. That’s about the only way I could see to stay within the budget set.

Yes.
Remember, there are countries that live on less than $1000 per year, per person. Without even Joe enforcing it!

Most Welcome. Frozen Condensed O.J. works great, added a Tablespoon at a time. Brown Sugar will work just fine. Be careful with the Cinnamon- add a little and let it blend for a few minutes before tasting. You can always add more but You can’t remove it if it’s too much.

Can make a decent meal for 10, for a total of $110; but no turkey except what a local butcher would donate.

No gravy is no deal. Where's the cornbread stuffing? Mashed potatoes, the pecan pie, eggnog? Sweet tea, wine?
I can serve bologna and cheese sandwiches, water out of a hose an apple and some chips..
These bone heads refuse to be real. dunning-kreuger at its finest.
