Mods I know, this song has been posted many times, but now it seems Pete Townsend was prophetic, about the modern democrat party as a teenage wasteland.
Flame away
Definitely one of best Who tunes.
I was told it was a poem written by a Vietnam Army vet that was in his 20’s fighting in the war. As the “old” guy he stood in contrast to most of his platoon that were in their teens. He called Vietnam a “teenage wasteland”.
Was my Wake Up music back in my crazy Work/School/Work going 20hrs per day 7 days per week years.
Greatest Rock & Roll band of all time.
Best Rock Song Evuuuh!
Fixed it.
Seemed to be Coppola and John Milius' view as well, in 'Apocalypse Now.'

The Who - Won’t Get Fooled Again (Shepperton Studios / 1978)
Nothing beats it - not even close. Studio version is even better. That pulsating background keyboard is awesome.
Love this as the soundtrack in the dog fight in “Top Gun - Maverick”.
You mean Teenage Wasteland?
Such a stupid title that had nothing to do with the song:
The title is a combination of the names of two of Townshend’s major inspirations at the time: Indian spiritual master Meher Baba and American minimalist composer Terry Riley
ACES!
Hard to believe the in the original lyrics the second line was “I farm for my meals”. It actually makes more sense gramatically. Glad they sing “fought” now as the other way doesn’t have the same bite.
“I don’t need to be forgiven.”
Great song. But Townsend needs to reconsider.
Best outro of any song by any band.
Loved the duct tape holding the headphones on the drummer!
Whatever works!
This footage was filmed specifically for footage to insert into their movie “The Kids are Alright” one of, if not the last Keith Moon performancesl. Pete definitely hammed it up, but he was having his own substance issues during that period and after. John was as usual completely unfazed in regards to what was going on around him.
