I suspect prices will indeed rise. That’s a bad thing for struggle families in the Biden economy. Overall though Walmart will find new sources and likely they will be American made. When Sam was alive I think he prided himself in selling mostly American made stuff. That all changed to selling mostly Chinese stuff to fund the Chinese Communists.
We will have to go through a change back to US made and that will be painful for many. But if we don’t we will be doomed.
The lower energy costs will offset much of that. The dying old media machine likes to present just one part of an argument and induce FUD, it’s more intricate than just tariffs.
I look for products made in Vietnam. Most everything from there is pretty well made. Furniture and clothing.
Prices wont rise significantly. Profit margins will shrink. The consumer will barely notice.
“We will have to go through a change back to US made and that will be painful for many. But if we don’t we will be doomed.”
Truth.
Yes, when Sam was alive he liked American suppliers.
He also beat them up so bad on the price, they had to find a cheaper source of labor.
He was not the pick up driving old boy the company like to portray.
I would run into him in NE Oklahoma and NW Arkansas frequently.
He was thin skinned, and greedy.
Indonesia, India, and other countries will benefit as manufacturers move out of China to other locations.
