There is a lot that we don’t know about what is going on within Russia and Ukraine to be sure, but what was reported in this article are not.
Record high inflation and interest rates in Russia are a fact reported by Russian officials. My guess is that inflation numbers are even higher than what is reported, and the Kremlin is bleeding money at an unsustainable rate and they know this.
Right now Putin and his officials have no choice but to claim “all is well, nothing to see here keep moving”, but reality is different. How different and by that I mean how much worse would be pure speculation, but there are signs.

A good sign of how things are going will be how the Russian infrastructure holds up over the winter. Last winter was bad. Let’s see how this winter goes.

None of this is to say that the situation is any better in Ukraine, but to say reporting issues in Russia as being bad and getting worse is propaganda is whistling past the graveyard.
