"retirement"

That word does not exist for everyone - certainly not me - particularly those not pulling a public salary like so many leftists.

I’m pretty sure she is on Oahu. Good place for a loser Democrat, that island is full of them. I’m over 216 air-miles away from there. Honolulu to Hilo. I’m close to Hilo,
kinda, sorta.

I’m assuming your comment re Coeur d’Alene is ironic? Or, has the area been sufficiently saturated with kalifornians?

Partly ironic.

We attract the conservative Californians by and large so that is good. It’s still a nice place with very friendly people and excellent values…abut really suffering from the explosive growth in population. Forests and prairies are getting mowed down everywhere to build more thousand home subdivisions. The CdA City Council approved a 200 foot skyscraper right on Front St. that is ruining the character of the quaint downtown. Traffic has gotten horrendous.

Traffic has gotten horrendous.

Horrendous as in trying to get across LA at peak rush hour? (Bumper to bumper stop and go.) Or, simply horrendous in the sense it's no longer a sleepy one horse town?

We've talked about this before. My wife has a nursing friend (my wife is an ortho PA) who moved to Coeur d'Alene from kalifornia. My wife is due to retire in a year or so and entertained the notion of moving to Coeur d'Alene but it's just not sounding that great to me. (We're currently in Oklahoma; also not that great.)

They’re all cold weather towns. I’d think Florida, Texas, Louisiana would be better due to the warmer weather and better economy.

Montpelier VT is starting to get some of the homeless issues of Burlington.

Rural is much better.

I guess they didn't filter for political persuasion.

**I live around 40 miles from Galena, IL. It is not low cost. Lot of Chicago people have vacation homes there.**

It was expensive in 2003, when the wife and I (Mercer county residents) went up there to celebrate our 25th annie. We could tell even then that the place was being over run with metro Chicagoans. Snobby, with expensive clothes and cars.

What they should have said is comfortable places for seniors if they have a second home in Florida for the winter.

When I first starting researching places to retire to, many folks suggested Montana saying the housing was affordable and the cities were safe places to live. But the housing is anything but affordable and now gangs have moved in making many cities unsafe. It's really a summer too because I was seriously considering Montana.

I've been looking at many places in Kansas as of late. The housing isn't as affordable as I would like. I blame OBiden for that because housing is expensive pretty much everywhere now unless one can find a deal somewhere. Yeah, it's flat, but so is Indiana. LOL

For the time being, however, I plan to stay put where I am because the housing is cheaper than most any other place around me and until I start saving money it's no use trying to move. But I'm doing my research and hoping and praying for the best.
