Russia launched a major missile and drone attack on Ukraine overnight into Sunday targeting power plants and energy infrastructure across the country.

The barrage was the largest attack on Ukraine since late August and the third largest so far this year. Missiles and drones targeted cities including the capital Kyiv, forcing people into basements, subway stations and other underground shelters.

The Russian aircraft involved in the assault included Tu-160 and Tu-95 strategic bombers, the air force said, as well as Su-34, Su-27 and MiG-31 jets.

Don’t confuse pro-American with pro-Russian. Just another endless foreign war not in our national interest. And the Obama administration started this conflict in 2014.

You want PEACE, as you emphasize, but everyone wants peace, only on their preferred terms. For all the blather about Ukraine being a “forever war,” the Russian economy is in trouble and likely to crack by the end of 2025. So why not keep Ukraine in the fight and wait for Russia to get desperate enough to agree to a peace on reasonable terms?

So, you want Russia to win — because you profess to be pro-American?

I think folks like you could really use a good smack whenever you feel entitled to question someone else’s patriotism.

Did you forget to add the /sarcasm ??

Maybe, but it's a hard , cold fact of life that there is going to be a lot of reconstruction in the Ukraine and somebody is going to have to foot the bill.

Nowhere in my post did I say anything about the American taxpayer footing the bill for the post war reconstruction of the Ukraine

The post war economic climate is going to very grim in Ukraine.

Aside from the obvious devastation, both in human and infrasture terms, it's a fact that the Ukraine effectively has no real economy in conventional terms.

In order to keep the war going, the NATO countries have been pumping direct cash aid into the country to pay everything from pensioners retirement benefits, welfare payments, government workers salaries, soldiers pay to the military plus a bunch of other hard cash funding to buy things to keep the lights on, the country fed and the economy going .

They get away with this because the recent pre war Ukraine GDP was only about 75 billion dollars and the US and NATO have been pumping in close to that in direct cash aid.

This has produced a false sense of normalcy in much of the Ukraine that simply does not exist.

This is kind of unprecedented in modern history and when this funding is suddenly removed cold turkey, it could be very hard on the Ukraine.

I think Trump has the right approach to Ukraine reconstruction - private American investments in the reconstruction of Ukraine that help provide markets for American produced goods and access to Ukrainian raw materials and natural resources to our mutual benefit.

This is opposed to the Biden Democrat approach of sending in a bunch of foreign Black Rock style carpet baggers to buy up the distressed Ukraine assets on the cheap and then using American taxpayer money to fund their reconstruction to provide massive profits to the Progressive cronies who engineered and drove the war in the first place.

It’s a simple and clarifying question: do you want Ukraine or Russia to win?

Personally, I prefer to send guns and cash to Ukraine for them to fight Russia.

I’ll take none of the above if it stops the killing. Who needs to be called the winner is the question I would pose in return?

I wonder to what degree the Ukrainians’ electrical grid has been dispersed to smaller generators? That is not as efficient, but it is inherently more survivable.

Russia, meaning Putin, must be seen domestically as the winner -- or at least not the loser -- against Ukraine and NATO if he wishes to stay in power and keep his head. And Ukrainians are war weary but remain determined not to be subjugated by Russia.

The US and NATO have accrued significant advantages by backing Ukraine. The Ukrainians have show great capacity for innovation against Russia, especially in air defenses and drone warfare. Sweden and Finland have joined NATO, defense spending is up in the NATO zone, and Poland is building a formidable military and fortifying her Eastern border against Russia.

China was shocked to see the Russian military humiliated by Ukraine and took pause to reassess her own military. China's leaders soon found weaknesses that require time, money, and difficult institutional changes and new training. This has bought Taiwan time, and the people and government in Taiwan have taken heart at Ukraine's success. This has diminished the chances of China invading Taiwan in the near future.

Ty. One more question if may be so bold. Do you believe President Trump understands things?

OK, I lied. 2nd question, do you think Joe still does?

If this is just further provocation by the west to push what we both agree needs to be seen "the winner". It's seems counterintuitive to me. And borderline evil if you want to get right down to it.

Trump understands the nature of power and how to negotiate with difficult people and high stakes. And, unlike Biden, Trump is in possession of his faculties and has a formidable capacity for sustained effort. My guess is that Trump will start putting the screws to Putin and Russia and then say, “President Putin, let’s talk.”

Because Biden approved sending long range missiles to Ukraine.

OK. Thanks again. I’m for missile control. Gun control, not so much.
