Have fun and flame away, it's saturday.
Never mind Mr. Roboto.
I keep playing this video over and over again.
It’s a Must Watch

“We Built this City” by Jefferson Starship comes close.
Beautiful!
Especially considering that the earlier Jefferson Airplane put out the likes of the awesome Volunteers.
Thank you for sharing, very impressive, where is Dennis DeYoung, the author of “Mr. Roboto”?
Dennis DeYoung, the writer of “Mr. Roboto,” is currently based in the Chicagoland area, Illinois, where he continues to perform with his own band after leaving the rock group Styx, where he originally wrote and sang the hit song “Mr. Roboto.”.
The soul generation got old I guess.
McCartney’s The Girl is Mine, Ebony & Ivory and Say, Say, Say
I was a huge Styx fan in the 70s and early 80s, anxiously awaiting each new album. “Cornerstone” in 1979 was the first indication they were starting to go pop. “Paradise Theater” was good, but it still was straying from their hard-rock roots. But when I heard “Mr. Roboto” on the radio in 1983, I stopped buying Styx albums.
“Probably the worst single released by a popular hit making band ever.
“We Built this City” by Jefferson Starship comes close.”
Paul Kantner had no use for “We built this city” either. Don’t remember the quote. Just remember he said something like “yeah right” with a facial expression of disgust.
No use for Mr Roboto either. Many might have loved it but I don’t like crowds or mobs.
Stop. Yur killin’ me. Among the worst recordings ever!
And do you know what’s even more insufferable? “Wonderful Christmas Time” Six weeks of sheer torment of this loathsome song is once again upon me. Aaaargh!
Indeed. One of the best renditions ever, of possibly my most favorite song ever.
Thanks for posting!
“We Built this City” by Jefferson Starship comes close.
Yet massive hits for both bands.
Went to the ‘Mr Roboto’ tour concert in Austin many moons ago. Worst concert ever. Completely turned me off from Styx.
Even Mick Fleetwood’s opening act complete with bongo sole couldn’t make ‘Mr Roboto’ sound good.
Or Springsteen’s “Santa Claus is Coming to Town.” Gag me!!
My future was indeed quite bright.
You see the world through your cynical eyes
You're a troubled young man I can tell
You've got it all in the palm of your hand
But your hand's wet with sweat and your head needs a rest
And you're fooling yourself if you don't believe it
You're kidding yourself if you don't believe it
How can you be such an angry young man
When your future looks quite bright to me
How can there be such a sinister plan
That could hide such a lamb, such a caring young man
You're fooling yourself if you don't believe it
You're kidding yourself if you don't believe it
Get up, get back on your feet
You're the one they can't beat and you know it
Come on, let's see what you've got
Just take your best shot and don't blow it
You're fooling yourself if you don't believe it
You're killing yourself if you don't believe it
Get up, get back on your feet
You're the one they can't beat and you know it
Come on, let's see what you've got
Just take your best shot and don't blow it.
I have a list of top 5 worst songs ever written and right there next to Peter Cetera’s “Glory of Love” is “We Built this City”.
The same thing happened with Journey, and also The Tubes. Early stuff was great but didn’t sell, so they went pop.
Don’t forget John Lennon’s mankind shaming carol “So this is Christmas”. ...and what have YOU done. Loser
