Ukrainian troops are facing down a ferocious Russian counteroffensive in Kursk as Putin seeks to take back Russian land before any talks.
The fight to control some 200 square miles of land in western Russia became even more brutal in recent days as the Kremlin, ahead of possible negotiations with the incoming Trump administration to end the war, appears set on removing Russian territory from the equation.
-snip-
The timing appears to demonstrate the Kremlin’s growing appreciation for how Kursk may play into future talks: If negotiations are to occur, Russia wants to make sure only Ukrainian land is up for debate.
“It is clear that Moscow will not start any negotiations until they have kicked out every last Ukrainian soldier from Kursk,” Konstantin Remchukov, the editor in chief of Nezavisimaya Gazeta who moves in Kremlin circles, told The Washington Post. Russian President Vladimir Putin does not want Kursk to be used as a bargaining chip — nor does he want to be forced to relinquish any of the Ukrainian territory he has captured since Russia’s invasion, Remchukov added. Putin’s recent mentions that any deal needs to reflect the “realities on the ground” refers to Russia’s hopes to recapture Kursk, he said.

Let me understand this: You invade Ukraine in what you thought would be a cakewalk through the country. Instead, you get you ass kicked to the curb and now feel you deserve to get back the land you lost in the conflict? I can kinda see why Ukraine might disagree with your position.
There’s actually something called “The Russian Negotiating Style.” This is it.
First snow in Kursk. Ukrainian drones having a field day today.
ZEEPER FOLLIES PINGLIST!(((PING!)))
What about that don't you understand?
You might want to understand that these fabulist clowns who write fiction for the Washington Post just got done gaslighting the country over KamaLOL, and now they're moving on to gaslighting us over the clown-puppet-actor from Ukraine.
Ukraine is winning. Marching to Moscow soon.
Borders change.
That may be the case, but the facts on the ground show that Russian forces retain the westward momentum up and down the line of contact. In Kursk Russia has stalled and contained the Ukrainian offensive. The area under Ukrainian control has been somewhat reduced.
The longer the fighting goes on, the more losses Ukraine incurs, and the more land they lose control over. All the western support over the last two years hasn’t changed that at all.
I don’t see a plausible way out of this for Ukraine except to swallow a bitter pill
and go to the table. With winter approaching and the looming end of Biden support as well, time is not on their side.
This is a negotiation.
Good sign.
I thought Moscow had fallen?
Was I misled?

One of the absolutely GREAT contributions Trump’s team will make to intelligence is telepathy will never again be something that is declared to be information.

This is telepathy. This is imagination. Tulsi, job one is making this go away.
You want intel? Use the internet phrasing — pics or it didn’t happen. In-orbit satellite recon represent the pics. If you don’t see it on pics, it didn’t happen. It’s imagination.

The illegal coup we fomented in 2014 setoff a civil war and the people in Crimea, Donetsk and Lugansk, largely ethnically Russian, wanted nothing to do with a Ukrainian nationalist government that was hellbent on persecuting them.
They sought their independence and willingly agreed to joinl the Russian Federation. THE PEOPLE DON'T WANT TO BE PART OF UKRAINIAN nor should they have to be given an illegal coup took place that resulted in President they voted for being thrown out of office.
If you don't that fact, too damn bad. But, enough of the bulls$it narrative you're spewing.
There’s nothing there but fields and shacks. Ukraine’s best troops weren’t allowed near any strategic targets and now are trapped far from the real battles on the front lines.
Ukraine is running out of troops. It's electric grid is barely functional with Kiev facing eight to 20 hour blackouts this winter. Russia now possesses more than 25% of what used to be Ukraine and not an inch of it is going back to being part of Ukraine.
And, you think Ukraine is winning?
