DENVER (KDVR) — Passengers of a Southwest Airlines flight sitting at a Denver International Airport gate had to evacuate after a cell phone battery caught on fire.
According to a statement Southwest sent to FOX31, Southwest Airlines Flight 3316 was scheduled to fly to William P. Hobby Airport in Houston on Friday morning. However, all 108 passengers had to evacuate after a phone caught a seat on fire.
Per preliminary reports, one person suffered a minor injury during the evacuation and the passenger whose phone caught on fire was being treated for burns, Southwest said.

Southwest said the passengers in the back of the plane exited using the rear emergency slides. The passengers in the front of the plane exited through the front door.
The passengers were placed on another aircraft and were flown to Houston.
According to FlightAware, Southwest Flight 3316 was expected to depart from DIA at 6:05 a.m. The flight arrived at its final destination, Houston, at 12:36 p.m., nearly three hours late.
Denver International Airport is "DEN" or "KDEN" depending on which system you're using.
Imagine what would happen at flight cruising altitude.
Android or iPhone?
Yes
Just because the story is from Denver, it doesn’t necessarily mean they were talking about DEN. Maybe Southwest has started flying to Doha. DIA is Doha International Airport.
At least they weren’t heading to Antsiranana. The airport there apparently uses DIE. (Northern tip of Madagascar).

Can you sear me now?
Local Denver Fox station, and we all call it “DIA” here. I worked for the airport for many years, and while “DEN” and “KDEN” are the proper identifiers, using “DEN” as the common reference only arose as part of a branding effort the airport began several years ago. DEN works fine as a brand on printed materials, or as a logo, but sounds odd and awkward when spoken because it’s an actual word. Identifiers like “DFW”, or “PDX”, etc. work fine because they don’t form a word, DEN doesn’t.
It is called DIA.
Imagine what would happen at flight cruising altitude.

Ah, the marvelous rechargeable batteries today, in everything from EVs to hearing aids. Just think if that phone were down in the baggage hold.
That’s.... weird... I’m guessing it was an android phone from china with a replaceable battery or maybe even a flip phone with an aftermarket battery.
Even “spicy pillow” batteries wouldn’t catch fire like that.
Well played.
< shrug >
You don't have to take my word for it ...
Denver International Airport at AirNav.
Like I said, "nitpick of the day".
I understand. Thanks for the link.
Either way the key word is “Lithium”.
