Myers is the only one I have heard of and have drank, although I’m sure it wasn’t this reserve version.
I used to drink Captain Morgan and Diet Coke. A loooong time ago.
Not a single Bacardi made the list? I have a smidgen of Bacardi Gold, just used by my wife for pecan pie.
I used to drink Pusser’s but I can’t find it in New Mexico.
We just came home from a 14 night cruise with 8 sea days across the Atlantic and discovered Ron Zacapa No. 23 is a nice rum.
actually a good/legitoimate list. Usually these lists reek of being bought and paid for.
When I was in college, about the only rum I had heard of was Bacardi white or maybe gold. After college, I married my college sweetheart, and we honeymooned in Jamaica. I graduated to Appleton Estate and drank that for many more years. I started with their basic rum and kept trying older and older rums. Myer’s dark rum was usually available at restaurants. Then one time, wherever we were eating/drinking, they had Zacapa 23. That has become one of my favorites. I still prefer it to Diplomatico. There’s a nice 12 year Flor de Cana that is comparable to Zacapa 23, and costs a few dollars less. I’m surprised there’s none of the Plantation line on this list. They have a nice overproof, and a couple of fun twists, like a Fiji island one that’s fun for a MaiTai or a Grog.
After the 9th or 10th one, I can’t tell the difference.
My favorite is Club Havana, but I haven’t had any for some time. I had to smuggle it in from Canada or Mexico. Not to be confused with Havana Club.
Heresy! Gosling’s Black Seal nowhere to be found?
Dark n’Stormy for the win.
El Dorado rum is made in Guyana and is excellent.
Hat tip to G’Town.

Seasonal reminder: if you want to whip up a batch of homemade eggnog using Alton Brown’s recipe, you still have enough time before Christmas. I like to divide the alcohol content in three - bourbon, brandy and dark rum. Of the three, however, I believe the rum is the key - the deep molasses and brown sugar notes really make it something special. I used Barbancourt dark rum last year, going to repeat it this year.
